5 stars based on nostalgia and memories
I can't review Warlords 2 in unbiased way, because this game was *so* good back then, I still simply love it and give it 5 stars automatically. And I don't play modern strategy games, but even if you are not a fanboy like me, and you just like turn based strategies, this should give you some fun. Premise is simple.. you have some map, represent one lord, control individual units (usually in group of eight) and fight over the control of all cities. There's bonus of having hero-class units which can pick up items or get quests and explore ruins, and there's some economy to keep an eye on and some diplomacy, but the core is about the exploring the map and winning all cities. There are some options to tune the final experience (fog of war, random map, active neutral cities, etc..), some of them turning the initial W2 experience quite some bit, if you are playing it a lot and want to have some new variation. I did play it recently in web browser in web-dosbox thing, and I still love it, but playing it in native dosbox with faster virtual HW should be even smoother and better.
