An enchanting slice of alternate history
If you're into HG Wells, science fiction, steampunk, history, or simply love imaginitive, well told stories then you'll find a lot to like in this curiosity from the Ultima series. The 'Ultima: World of Adventures' series was short lived, but gave Origin and Lord British a chance to escape the confines of the D&D style fantasy world they'd successfully portrayed with the Ultima franchise, and branch out to explore new worlds. I used to own this on 5 1/4" floppies and spent hours playing, engrossed in the alternate universe populated by some of history's most famous and interesting characters. The mix of history and fiction really pulls you in, and the desire to explore Mars and discover all the historical characters will keep you playing. Overall this would serve as a good introduction to the Ultima series, and it really is a great freebie from GOG!
