Description
Clementine, now a fierce and capable survivor, has reached the final chapter in her journey. After years on the road facing threats both living and dead, a secluded school might finally be her chance for a home. But protecting it will mean sacrifice. Clem must build a life and become a leader while still watching over AJ, an orphaned boy and the closest thing to family she has left. In this gripping and emotional final season, you will define your relationships, fight the undead, and determine how Clementine’s story ends.

  • Emotional, Gut-Wrenching Story - See Clementine’s journey through to the end. As she builds a new life, you will have to grapple with new types of choices and live with the consequences as AJ looks on, learning from your every move.
  • More Control, More Tension - A new over-the-shoulder camera system, greater freedom to explore detailed environments, and scenes of unscripted combat capture the fear of living in a world overrun by the undead. All this creates the most engaging The Walking Dead game yet.
  • Striking New Visual Style - The all-new Graphic Black art style rips the ink from the pages of the Eisner Award-winning comic book series and brings the world of The Walking Dead to life like never before.

Includes access to all 4 episodes (Episodes 1-4 available now!).

First Impression

If, like me, you've been a little critical of recent Telltale games for their lack of gameplay and formulaic design choices - I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with this one. Here are some of the big changes. 1) You actually control Clem and move around the environment! This is a big deal! There is much less of that "auto-pilot" sensation that other recent games have had. 2) The graphics. I think they are a LOT better than A New Frontier. A lot grittier and more fitting to the storyline. Telltale has been trying for years to get that authentic "comic book" feel. This is a big step in the right direction. 3) The pause screen has the original music! That was so nice! 4) The combat. Gone are the quicktime events. (Sort of.) It not nearly so staged as it used to be. **SPOILER** [If you remember at the end of the first The Walking Dead when Lee was cutting through the walkers to get to Clem...} Thats kind of what the new combat is like. **//SPOILER** The writing and voice acting are both excellent so far. I have one nitpick so far. There is a small bit of lag after each interaction. You look at an object, the "cutscene" ends... Then there is a moment where you're stuck. It lasts for a second or two. A little obnoxious, but not that big of a deal. This game is a great leap forward for Telltale. A redemption of the brand. I'm very excited for the rest of the season!

Great Soap Opera

The gameplay itself is mediocre, but people play TellTale games for the stories, not the gameplay. The dialogue is noticeably better than every other season. The graphics manage to look cel-shaded yet realistic at times. Best soap opera I've ever seen.

For all who came this far

I really enjoyed this last season, and the reason why I don't give a solid 5 stars is that because the Walking Dead universe is full of inconsistencies. And also, while this story was really good, well thought and executed, with great characters and plot, this is not close to the variety of what the original season had give us. Clementine is a far better character than any other character in the TV series. And her journey deserved a fitting end. This is what you get here. Yes, there are some graphic glitches. Yes, the Telltale interface sucks. Yes, the zombies are really annonying and you'll die quite a lot. But I loved this game. For the atmosphere, for the relationship between the characters, for the logic of the impacts of your choice on the story. This is getting somewhere, finally. This is a story about a legacy, about home, about love, and about freedom. A terrible tale, but a beautiful one as well. Farewell Clementine, although I didn't reach the ending I wanted for you, I'll let you rest now. You deserved it. Lee, AJ and you were 3 great heroes in the deep sea of sorrow that is the Walking Dead. To me, this universe has missed its opportunity to evolve, and with the end of the tale of Clementine, this is time for me to get out of this universe that will never go anywhere. Thanks Telltale for this amazing work. Sorry it was so chaotic for you to produce it. I'm glad you managed to do it right.

A beautiful crescendo on which to end

For life reasons, I took a five year hiatus halfway through The Final Season and only recently came back to it as though I never missed a beat. I played the episodic releases of previous seasons as they were released and, while it may have had some ups and downs, loved the time I spent with Clem, like an old friend you keep checking in on. Becuase of how long it's been, TellTale's adventure has felt like a companion always there throughout my life, and it feels bittersweet that it's now come to an end. The Final Season upped the production value and wove a beautiful story that built on the journey that got us here. Although I never really took to AJ coming from the previous season, with it feeling like they were trying too hard to mirror Lee and Clem's relationship, I think that in the end they stuck the landing and I honestly believe I wouldn't change a thing. The story is well paced, characters fleshed out, and the action set pieces brought a sense of tension I never expected to reach. I know the developers had a hard time with the last season, but I'm glad they managed to pull together this closure to Lee and Clem's - and AJ's - story. Their love of the characters, the world, and the story shine through in every moment of this season, and I only wish Telltale had survived to go on crafting new stories with the quality and workmanship present in this last chapter of The Walking Dead. As it is, it stands as a wonderful epitaph to the developer's legacy; a high note that, thankfully, new players can - and should - continue to experience.
