Description

As if awakening from a deep sleep, you find yourself in a strange, contradictory world of ancient ruins and advanced technology. Tasked by your creator with solving a series of increasingly complex puzzles, you must decide whether to have faith or to ask the difficult questions: Who are you? What is your purpose? And what are you going to do about it?

Features:

  • Overcome more than 120 immersive puzzles in a stunning world.
  • Divert drones, manipulate laser beams and even replicate time to prove your worth - or to find a way out.
  • Explore a story about humanity, technology and civilization. Uncover clues, devise theories, and make up your own mind.
  • Choose your own path through the game's non-linear world, solving puzzles your way.
  • But remember: choices have consequences and somebody's always watching you.

Prototype DLC includes:
  • Prototype Levels - Includes more than 100 puzzles from early prototype development stage and 1 exclusive level from early beta version, not present in the final game.
  • Elohim Voice - US version - Elohim voice narrated by Serious Sam narrator Bill Jurney.
  • Elohim Voice - Writer's prototype - Elohim voice narrated by The Talos Principle's writer Jonas Kyratzes.

The Talos Principle: Road to Gehenna follows the narrative of Uriel, Elohim's messenger, as he explores a strange, hidden part of the simulation on a mission of mercy and redemption in an attempt to free the souls of the damned at all costs.
This substantial expansion consists of four episodes that take experienced players through some of the most advanced and challenging puzzles yet. The Talos Principle writers Tom Jubert and Jonas Kyratzes have returned to pen the expansion and show players an entirely different side of Elohim's world through a journey to Gehenna filled with new characters and a new society with its own history and philosophy.

The new Serious DLC replaces the godlike voice of Elohim with completely NEW, rewritten and humorous Serious Sam script.
Serious Sam voice has been recorded by longtime Serious Sam voice actor John J. Dick.
It also includes a new Serious Sam player model for use in The Talos Principle.

The Talos Principle - Bonus Content includes:

Documentary Video* - Making-Of The Talos Principle video featuring behind-the-scenes footage and exclusive developer interviews with Croteam members. This documentary takes a look at how the game was made.

Digital Terminal Booklet** - The digital terminal booklet contains over 100 pages of text found in game terminals.

Box Art** - Includes DVD label and DVD sleeve (front and back), so you can create your own retail The Talos Principle DVD box.

Wallpapers - Eight exclusive hi-res (1920x1080) images as wallpapers.

Posters, Stickers and Postcards - Three posters used at E3 2014 show, one sticker art for printing Talos related stickers on sticker paper and two postcards (two front and one back) used at Gamescom 2014 show.

Croteam at their best

Game is FPP puzzle basically, the puzzles themselves are stimulating, relaxing musical score is worthy of listening on its own, graphics looked great on release and hold up today due to, i won't say minimalistic, but clean, albeit lush, level design. All this builds a sublime overall atmosphere. But what makes this remarkably good is the secret sauce - its writing, which drives you toward self-reflection, evokes emotions of curiosity and sadness, while still having humorous parts(mostly in the dlc). I wholeheartedly recommend this, if you want a comparison - i'd put it above Portal 2.

On par with Portal 2

Such a mindblowing blending of story (lore / writing), puzzles, humour and level design that Talos principle can confidently stand next to Portal 2 - one of the best games ever made. That is all you need to know about this masterpiece. Don't spoil yourself, don't google anything more about it. Go in blind and you will be rewarded with emotional rollercoaster like no other (that ending!). 100% recommended.

A truly great gaming experience

Talos Principle is an outstanding game that deserves to be played, which is why I wanted to add my voice to those praising it. I'm not a big puzzler fan, but this is the only game out of several hundred that I've never uninstalled since the day I bought it on Steam. I play it whenever the mood strikes me, and just it never gets old. It probably would if I tried to play it straight through, simply because the puzzles are all similar, being built of the same basic building blocks arranged in different, and sometimes fiendishly clever, ways. But this isn't a game that demands you finish it before you forget the plot and cease to care. You can count on it to always be there waiting for you just the way you left it, without that feeling of "Now where was I, and who's who in this thing again...?" But that ease of leaving off and coming back is not because there's no there there. Actually, there's a whole, rather interesting, rationale for everything lending heft to the atmosphere that is perhaps only found elsewhere in the Myst series of adventure games (I don't know about Portal, I've never played it). Talos isn't what I'd call a Myst-like, but I do think it shares all of the best qualities of the Myst games, which in my book is a good thing. One thing I do love about it is the building architecture and your sense of being in an open world, even if that is largely illusory since each "level" is an island you can't swim off of and not a vast, sprawling continent. Still, it feels very real somehow. Talos is just one of those rare games that has no noticeable faults. Everything in it screams quality: story, writing, graphics, animation, music, you name it. People who are allergic to puzzles may not like it simply for that reason, since a puzzle game is what it is, but it won't be because the puzzles are either unfair or stupid, and in fact the whole game is like that. I happily give The Talos Principle ten thumbs up.

Should be in every gamer's collection

Have it on Steam and played through it a couple of times. Fantastic game. Some of the puzzles are really challenging but once you complete them, they all become so obvious. Beautifully crafted game and for the GoG sales price an absolute must-have!

Brilliant

It's been a long time since a game has pulled me into it's world and made me forget about the real one. The Talos Principle is a gem in an industry full of copy/paste recycled nonsense. I don't even enjoy puzzles very much. This is the first game I completed to 100%, albeit on MS gamepass, and I absolutely look forward to getting 100% again for GOG. Now I own it and can play it offline to boot. This game is simply amazing. Thank you CroTeam and thank you GOG.
