The Plucky Squire

If you liked Toy Story, Bill and Ted, old school Zelda and/or Evoland II, you'll likely have fun with this one. Some of the mini games threw me off track, especially the one involving the protagonist's troll friend. You can skip those games of course, there are plenty accessibility options, invincibility included, but this game I wanted to do without a helping hand. Jumping in and out of the picture book is a beautiful and impressive effect, particularly when the time of day changes in the "real world", but that's not all you're spending your time with. There's half a dozen other game mechanics introduced later in the game that are all a little off the beaten path. Full five stars for innovation, humor and sheer ... adorability, if that's a word.

I love how creative they were with this little gem. Great for adults and children. It has a very good difficulty slider for children and adults who need more help up to a decent difficulty level for people who want a bit of a challenge but its definitely all about the cute story and the cool and innovative game elements. I honestly hope they make another game in the series.

What happens when a storybook villain discovers a way to jump out of the book and rewrite the story? I guess a hero has to go after him. Fun, not too difficult for the most part, and the graphics are very cute. The game has a clever way of jumping in and out of drawings sitting around the 3d world, and manipulating the book pages and words to solve puzzles as well as fighting enemies. Took me around 15 hours to complete without rushing (but without 100%ing either).

For beginners and for the lovers of childbook art! Nice music extra!

It could have been a great game, but the slow pacing and generic mini games, cost it 2 stars. Hopefully if they make a sequel they'll pick up the pace and lose the mini games for more platforming!
