Solve mind-bending puzzles in a world full of mystery and save the family of the flute-noses!

The flute nose dynasty has been watching over Asposia for centuries on end. In secret, they fill the roly-poly world with light and life. Emil, a trader for odds and ends, has led all the Asposians astray, making them believe that the dynasty is in cahoots with dark forces. Seriously, who knows what this weird family is doing day in, day out? The only one who could stop evil Emil is the heir to the flute nose throne: Robert. He has been petrified for three years, though. With a huge dose of enthusiasm, but little to no idea what he’s actually doing, he embarks on an adventure to find the legendary last wind monk. Of course, he has some great company: Peck, as loyal as he is flightless, and Laura, a rebel who certainly does fly, but only off the handle and who is Robert’s love with a capital L, by the way. A final ray of hope is provided by the mysterious Mama Dola, who seems to know more about Robert’s destiny than Robert himself…

Not as Good as the First Game

The Inner World was so charming I rushed to buy this sequel, but I was slightly disappointed. It's still a fairly good game but it doesn't hang together as well as the first. As opposed to the first game, Robert's character development occurs in only one part of the story and is a bit arbitrary; he avoids thinking about something until he can't anymore and then just gets over it; Laura doesn't develop further at all; a disappointment compared to the side-by-side development in the first game that really sold them as partners and a future couple. The villain of the first game had a fantasy-style evil plan to turn people to stone whereas the villain here simply wants to murder Robert's people. It's a strong shift in tone that the game fails to fully sell; it's ultimately as silly and cartoonish as the first game, which leaves the specter of mass murder a bizarre contrast. Despite this awkward thematic heaviness, the villain of this second game is largely a cipher compared to the straightforward villain of the first game and is also disposed of as a threat via an anticlimactic deus ex machina. Still largely enjoyable but definitely step down from its predecessor.

First Impression

In principle, I have nothing to say to describe how awesome this game is, but it's all fun! Narrative story events are very interesting with fascinating characters in terms of the voice of performers and charisma and especially the voice of Robert's story hero I find his voice very decent with personal, besides the game's superb graphic and smooth eye-catching I liked the idea of displaying subtitles in a conversation bubble, that's something we don't see in many games. And also the puzzles are brain-stimulating and deceiving. I'm still playing it and I haven't finished it yet, but I wanted to say my first impression of the game, and I expect the end of the game to be as interesting as it is.

If you liked the first, you'll like this

A sequel in par with the first Inner World game, The Last Wind Monk is a welcome return to Asposia. Some things are better/improved: - The character designs blend better with the background art (a simple flat shading did the trick) - The hint system is a nice addition (if not for the spoiler free hint system, then fpr the simple task of stating the quest running at any given moment) Some things (good and bad) remained the same: - Characters still talk too much, while dialogue is not as funny as needed. - The background art remains extremely nice, the music/sound is what the game needs, voice acting remains ok (above average). One things is not as good as in the 1st game: - The overall story/plot is not as engaging as on the 1st game. The story of The Last Wind Monk, while not bad by any means, just feels less epic. All in all, if you liked the 1st one and you find this on discount, you can safely purchase

Good follow-up, a bit much padding

#Summary (72%): If you liked the first Inner World, you would like this sequel too. After all, it is still the same recipe with a little more puzzles and locations. The English voice acting can be a tad wooden, but the sheer charm often makes up for it. #Review: The Inner World was a surprisingly cute adventure game set in a strange world. While it was not as surreal as, for example, Anamita Design’s games, it had its own uniqueness that clicked with its audience. Its sequel, The Last Wind Monk, tries to cash in on the formula once more. Story-wise three years passed yet nothing changed. In blunter words, this sequel reuses the previous plot without any remorse. We face the same peril, a zealot edging the world towards its doom. Even the zealot feels familiar since he is the previous one’s disciple. Only if the old one had a Spanish Inquisition, the new one controls the Third Reich. Yes, we are getting this transparent with the intended message. Political overtones or not, the game is still as cute as a bug. The visuals are cartoonish, round, and colourful. Robert, our bumbling main protagonist, keeps stumbling through his challenges with childlike innocence. Said challenges themselves changed quite a bit, though. Like the first game, The Last Wind Monk uses an alien world that uses many strange concepts. On top of that, it embraces the infamous adventure game moon logic. With such a combination, some puzzles will never make any sense, no matter how much you try. (Be prepared: the switchboard puzzle will haunt your nightmares!) This difficulty has another job: to mask the game length. The Last Wind Monk is shorter than its predecessor, yet also more padded. Since the story has two parallel threads, this pace and padding make it difficult to follow the plot. The somewhat lifeless acting does not help either. Still, in the end, this is a worthy sequel for those who loved the first game.

A Cute but Flawed Title

Moon logic governs a lot of these puzzles which would mean less if there was more than one to tackle at a time, but so often I found myself just plain stuck because I hadn't thought to rub a seemingly pointless object on an NPC that seemed completely unrelated. The general premise of a patently evil religious leader and his regime got REALLY tiresome after awhile. You'll know all the twists by the end of the introduction because you've seen this story a million times before. It's not a bold revelation when the traditionally dressed religious straw man who mutters empty platitudes turns out to be the villain and the mysterious creatures threatening the land turn out to be a conspiracy. Every puzzle however seems convinced this is a big original notion, and it doesn't even wink at the audience to let them know this generic plot in an intentional goof. Feel how you will about religion, several hours of grumbling about it get stale. The lead character goes from being enjoyably innocent to annoyingly naive and dense. If there was more humor and less haranguing I'd be considerably less annoyed. Nice music anyway.
