Description
It is five years since the events of 1999’s “The Silver Case,” set in the new 25th Ward that arose in the bayside area of Kanto. In a room of the “Bayside Tower Land” apartment complex, a woman is found murdered under mysterious circumstances. This sets off a series of seemingly random events bridging across multiple protagonists including The Silver Case’s Tokio Morishima. With all viewpoints assembled, a truly shocking pattern emerges… Available for the first time outside Japan, The 25th Ward: The Silver Case is presented with completely rebuilt HD assets and additional content not found in the original version.
  • A SUDA51 Trip - Set in the “Kill the Past” universe, the series continues its bleak look into a semi-futuristic world on the edge of collapse and the misfits and antiheroes that inhabit it.
  • Brave New World - The return of the signature “Film Window” system is brought to The 25th Ward for the first time! New visuals, sounds and controls capture the game in a fresh perspective.
  • One Story, Many Sides – Explore this dark take on Tokyo from three different perspectives, “Correctness,” “Placebo,” and “Matchmaker.

Incredible Game / Experience

The 25th Ward is the Sequel to the Silver Case, so you should play this game first if you want to fully understand it. That being said, I expected this game to be on par with the Silver Case. I changed my mind. The 25th Ward blows it out of the Water. It has an even crazier story which makes it perfect for multple playthroughs. You won't get everything at first, but the game is a single puzzle and getting the pieces together is incredibly fun if you like these kind of games. The graphics are very stylistic, but look great, especially in comparision to the Silver Case. The OST is 10/10 and I highly recommend getting the deluxe edition because it has the soundtrack. Describing the gameplay and story is difficult with a Suda game. It's very surreal with a plot about corruption, different oraganizations plotting against each other and stuff like that. There are still plenty of funny and weird moments and I had to laugh a lot during the game. The characters are memorable and fit the story perfectly. You don't necessarily need to play The Silver Case to enjoy the 25th Ward. You can also play the other way arround. 25th Ward first and Silver Case afterwards. Both games are fantastic and I highly recommend them. It's definetly not for everyone. But if can get into it, its great. Also bonus points for a Linux version,

Even better than The Silver Case

This is a direct sequel to The Silver Case that manages to be just as interesting and even improve on the original. A detective Visual Novel mixed with mythology and new age of technology i best suda51 fashion. The controller support is basic but functional, unlike in TSC, the music is just as jamming and athmospheric and the illustrations are more colourous and numerous in this entry. Perhaps Suda51's best work right next to Killer 7 in my humble opinion.

Frustrating gameplay as a visual novel

No save points except at the end of hours-long chapters, no keyboard shortcuts like in The Silver Case, sluggish controls made of using arrow keys to rotate a tetrahedron or polyhedron "keyboard", monotonously knocking door to door in large buildings as "investigation", having to repeat dialogues a lot because you can't tell when they have finished. I enjoyed The Silver Case but would prefer watching The Matrix to this sequel.

A fun experience to close a wild series

Sequel to The Silver Case with plenty of references to Flower, Sun, & Rain, this toes the line of "is this a game" a bit better than both while still being firmly a visual novel. It is still very much "on rails" but there are a good amount of puzzles throughout, and three intertwining stories (that can be played in almost any order but tie together roughly by chapter). It doesn't seem to end as satisfactorily as either, with a goofballs final choice that I wound up looking up endings for on youtube. I laughed a lot, I gasped a lot, I scratched my head a few times. It definitely feels like the series isn't done telling tales, but what form it takes next is anyone's guess.

What a trip

Yet another SUDA 51 experience. Its a fairly straightforward text based dungeon crawler, albeit with that certain Goichi Suda flair for the outright bizarre. Some puzzle elements will madden, but overall its another great interactive artwork. Kudos
