It's great, but no so great.

I finished the game a couple of months ago and despite the fact of good aesthetic of the environment and soundtrack, it's a bit hard to feel the immersion of Syberia 1 and 2 when the animation are lazy, the main plot doesn't make sense, the ending is abrupt, there's just a few little references to the previous games and the voice acting simply doesn't fit with the aspect of the npc (old npc with young voice and vice versa). Yet, you can feel a part of the essence of Syberia and it worth to be played even one time, specially for old faces. I'm going to buy it (when I have money) and enjoy it again. Salu2

Not terrible but not good enough either

Having finished the game I can tell that its biggest strengths are the graphics and the OST while the weaknesses are the gameplay and the story. The graphics are beautiful and detailed while the OST is something I will keep on listening to. Unfortunately, that's all... As you start the game (playing only with mouse - that's how a pnc game is supposed to be played) you'll notice that the camera moves by placing the cursor at an edge of the screen. The problem with this is that, as you need to click somewhere on the edge to move to another screen, then the camera moves too, which is very annoying when you need to go "down" cause then, you can only see the floor and Kate's legs, until you move the mouse to the upper part (so the camera moves). Add to this the odd angle most cameras are placed. That's the perfect way to ruin the gameplay... Then to access an item in your inventory you'll need to press down your mouse's wheel over a hotspot (also why are all the hotspots pointed?) and roll the wheel until you reach the item you want. I guess, the reason for both the problems I've mentioned is that Syberia 3 was meant to be a console game. No matter the problems, I thought I'd try it for the story but it was proved indifferent at least. You help a group of Youkols reach a destination. But they can do nothing on their own (how did they survive as a tribe so far, really?), they mostly make stupid comments and most importantly, wherever they camp, they roam everywhere needlessly telling nonsense. Only a couple of characters are interesting to interact with. All the rest are indifferent or Youkols... Add to that ,that the voices of the actors chosen don't fit their in-game characters at all, Kate and only a couple more being an exception. To sum it up: If the gameplay would be fluid and the story as it is, I'd give it a thumbs up. If the gameplay was broken like now but the story worthed it, I'd give it a thumbs up. If you want to try it, at least wait for a sale at 10€

It's still Syberia but...

First I have to confess that I am adoring Syberia 1 and 2 and so when this one finally came to GOG without Denuvo or any kind of DRM it took me seconds to buy it. I payed $15 for it then and imo that is the amount of money the game is worth max. Syberia 3 is not really a different story, it is a continuation so people who did not play the first ones might get confused now and then. The OST is amazing and the artwork is nice. But why did they try to do a point and click adventure designed for a controller? Meanwhile they patched in better mouse support but it still is far from being perfect. The technical aspect even with the newest GOG release at the moment (11/15/2017) still is sub par. During my 20 hour playthrough of the game and the short DLC I experienced a vanishing mouse pointer, long loading times, bad lip syncing, cut off or paused voice over, stuttering in area changes and two crashes - playing with system specs which are recommended. The puzzles are mostly on the easy side. Most of the game you are not trying to figure out which item you could use but you are trying to figure out where you would find this item. So a lot of the game is searching for items and trying to find out which area you did miss. There are no inventory combining puzzles wihich makes this a lot easier. Sometimes you will have to talk to someone or do something before you will even be shown a certain hotspot and the hotspots are all marked with a white circle (so that you know where to point your controller to) - that is just bad design. In addition to normal puzzles you also have some kind of logic puzzles - but unfortunately in several cases not many hints how to solve these. But once again I could enjoy the world of Syberia and in the end I have to say it was worth the money to be able to continue the journey. I would not recommend paying full price even if you are a fan like me but for $15 it's all right. I hope they wil continue patching since it is not a bad game at core.

love the game; shame about the UI

gah! what a game - beautiful and imaginative - but what a horrible, awful unplayable interface. You have no control over the camera, and the game keeps switching camera angle, even in the middle of a simple straight walk. You can't look round, you can't see what Kate sees, even when it'd be really helpful - and it's not just 3rd-person, it's viewed from all sorts of odd angles. Manipulating objects is odd, too. it's awkward to drag things in circles, and the game has no indication that this is what you do. There are a number of "icons" which accompany possible actions, but they are cryptically unfathomable and the game has, again, no explanation for them. They don't seem to be consistent. The game story has a weaker narrative than the previous 2 - e.g. having stressed the importance of getting X, you can't find it... and it turns out you have to break off and go away and do something quite different... and will then find the piece, and can bring it back to where you needed it! We ended up midway, playing from walkthrough instructions rather than bothering to work out what was needed... and then the horrible interface defeated that, too. We played and loved, and finished, Syberia and Syberia 2. We've given up on Syberia 3 'cos it's no fun.

A Terrible Game

Syberia 1 and 2 were (are) pretty good games; but Syberia 3 is a p. o. s. It's most serious flaw is that you cannot save the game when you want; instead the game automatically saves at various times. So, you may end up having to replay a segment more than once. This coupled with the next most serious flaw--the inability to fast-forward through dialog and cut scenes--makes this game tedious. Both of these features were present in the earlier Syberia editions; what happened Microids? Next flaw: the game is ponderously slow to load; and reload; and reload. Finally, the solution to puzzles is often without rhyme or reason; you will be consulting walk-throughs frequently. Bottom line: DO NOT BUY THIS GAME--it's a rip-off.
