Sunrider Legends Tactics

Overall I liked this game, but it's in a weird spot for me, specially because of its story. I know this was announced as 'heavily inspired in Mask of Arcadius' and I got no problems with that, but the pacing is what throws me off. You get along and recruit every girl you come across in a matter of seconds. I know we don't wanna drag out the introductions too much, but even Ava is concerned about how fast you put your trust in everybody. I quite liked the parts that were original, specially around the 2nd half of the game, and there's a lot more of 'choices matter' component, not only during dialogues but also in battles. It mostly determines which girls will join you and what ending you'll get, and it gives the game a decent replayability. As for the battles, they took SR4 chassis, which was pretty good, and adapted it to the game context. There're some improvements to previous mechanics like positioning/rotation, importance of armor and different types of attacks, affection system, units customization, consulting with the crew, etc. Enough new gameplay aspects to feel fresh. This time the new risky addition (insert SR4 temple flashbacks here) is the boarding battles. They are an okey addition, specially since there's enough deph with the characters skills to play around, although I don't expect to see this again in future games. Also since it's completely new it's pretty easy to find bugs and weird interactions in these. It makes quite the constrat with the naval battles, bc your ships are pretty much a tabula rasa for the upgrades/weapons you wanna attach to them, but the characters have a set of skills with lower customization. Other aspects: Sprites with SR4 quality, but new clothes designs. Good voice acting but again reduced to important scenes. Secondary missions are scarce as opposed to SR4. OST on point as always, a few new themes with a more sailor/pirate vibe. Around 20h first run. A bit buggy and performance isn't the best ever since SR4.
