Description
Nemesis is an expansion to Stellaris in which the player will be able to determine the fate of a destabilizing galaxy. Adding espionage tools, a path to power as the Galactic Custodian to combat endgame crises - or the Menace option to BECOME the endgame crisis - Nemesis gives you the most powerful tools ever available in Stellaris.

Ultimately you will have to make the choice between chaos or control, to take charge of a galaxy spiraling into crisis. Will you find a way to take power through diplomacy or subterfuge, or will you watch the stars go out one by one?

The Nemesis expansion includes:
  • Become the Crisis: You are the fire that spreads across the galaxy, threatening its very existence. As your empire becomes more and more menacing, you’ll unlock powerful bonuses to finish a hopeless galactic stalemate on your own terms. If the rest of the galaxy can’t stop you in time, you can unleash enough power to end all of existence!

  • Galactic Custodian: It’s up to you to campaign for the Galactic Community to declare you a Custodian, granting you emergency powers to combat the Crisis. Use them to bring the galaxy back from the edge of destruction and restore order. When the crisis is defeated you may choose to relinquish your powers...or keep them, and form a new Galactic Imperium.

  • Espionage: Knowledge is power; use new tools to spy on your enemies (or friends). Deploy Envoys to lead covert Operations and counterintelligence behind enemy borders. Lies and deceit will throw your enemies off your scent while you learn their deepest secrets.

As your Infiltration Level grows you’ll unlock new operations, such as Sabotage Starbase, Acquire Assets or Steal Tech. Turn allies against each other through the use of smear campaigns and by instigating diplomatic incidents. Play your cards right, and they’ll be none the wiser: what they don’t know will hurt them.

  • New Ship Set: Nemesis includes new ships inspired by some of the most imposing empires in science fiction. Whether you’re taking control of the galaxy or wiping it out, you’ll look as powerful as you feel.

Post end-game crashing?

I was a sucker again, and bought another $20 paradox dlc I would've been better without. With this DLC, you have a brand new way to end the game. It's buggy, but you can become the "Crisis". You're given star destroying ships, and you blow up stars to grind dark matter. When you have enough matter, you can upgrade a megastructure. When the megastructure is completely upgraded, the galaxy is destroyed and you win the game... If you've made it that far, chances are you've already "won" the game. Everyone in the galaxy declares war on you, except your vassals. So you'll want to destroy the fallen empires beforehand and have lots of vassals. Also, to progress in the crisis tree, you need lots of "menace" which you earn through battle, having vassals, and purging pops. And chances are, if you've done this, you've already cleared out the other crisis, and reached the "game over screen" (you won!), long before you've finished the crisis tree. And if not... you would've won anyway. You can also be declared the "Galactic Custodian" during the endgame crisis... not that you don't single-handedly take down the crisis every time. But then you can also turn it into the NEW GALACTIC EMPIRE!!! ... because earning vassals is too much trouble? I kept wondering, what's the point of it all. Also, I kept trying to use the espionage system... it's VERY boring. The new "First contact" rework, which came in the free update was nice. Everything else hardly mattered at all. There was no advantage, so far as I could find.

Espionage game play disappointing

I bought Nemesis for the espionage game play. The espionage missions are trivial and the cost is too great. Influence points are used to buy sectors, claim enemy sectors and activate espionage missions. You can only bank 1000 influence points, and accrue on average 4 points per month. If you engage in any economic, research and military treaties, you lose even more of your monthly influence points. I'm usually loathe to spend influence on espionage or treaties when I need those points to conquer enemies.

I Love Democracy

DLC is good, free update is even better. I give you 3.5 stars for the DLC (cuz the price is quite high) and 5 stars for the free update. Good job Paradox, I certainly underestimated your power. May my dollars be with you.
