Description
Stargate: Timekeepers is a tactical game in which you lead a team of specialists through a story-driven campaign featuring an original narrative set in the Stargate SG-1 universe. Sneak a newly formed team behind enemy lines, use your characters’ unique skills, craft the perfect plan to unravel a timeloop mystery, and defeat the Goa’uld threat.

DIVE INTO THE STARGATE SG-1 UNIVERSE

Stargate: Timekeepers departs from the end of season 7 of the Stargate SG-1 main plot to create an original story, unfolding over 14 narrative-rich missions. Your adventure starts during the Battle of Antarctica, where Commander Eva McCain and her team are supporting the SG-1 against Anubis’s fleet.

Sometime later, Eva and her team of specialists are tasked with a new mission in the Stargate universe: help the Jaffa Resistance, prevent brutal rituals, strike against Moloc’s army, and seek an alliance with the Unas.

LEAD A TEAM OF SPECIALISTS

Lead a team of specialists operating behind enemy lines. Use your characters’ unique skills to come up with perfectly synchronized plans to overcome Kull Warriors, Jaffa Generals, Moloc’s Officers and many new and original enemies.

Natural leader and long-time soldier, Eva McCain is a master of automatic rifles. Extremely agile and an expert sniper, Max Bolton can hide in a gillie suit to find the perfect spot to take down enemies from long distances. Sam Watson, trained spy and technical officer, is an expert on alien gadgetry. Derreck Harper’s drones carry out some of the most difficult tasks, including healing allies and deactivating hostile electronic devices. The core team from Tau’ri makes friends along the way: A’ta, Jaffa rebel and sneaky thief, carries a Ma’tok staff for short-range combat. Xugga, a powerful yet good-natured Unas veteran, joins your team - along with a little friend.

Each individual has a set of unique abilities: play smart and combine them to silently eliminate your enemies in quick succession. Tactical Mode allows you to synchronize your characters’ actions perfectly.

Know what you're getting

I am a big fan of the Stargate universe and would love a decent game using those characters and worlds. This game however, is just not it. I'm not saying it's a bad game, it's just not of a type that I enjoy playing. My opinions are based on the demo, so things could change, but I doubt the basic gameplay would be altered in any significant way. Just be aware of what it is, a real time isometric, multi-character, stealth tactics, rpg. Lots of mouse clicking to be done at just the right time. Not FPS (or TPS), turn-based tactics, not strategy, or (thankfully) not cards. The short time I spent with the demo frustrated me, though I liked the characters, and was looking forward to the story. My advice is to find the demo and if you enjoy it then this is a buy, if nothing else than to support the genre.

Works on Linux

This is classic stealth/RTT game (a la Commandos). Maybe not as good as some mimimi games, but still offers nice experience. Even though it's not officially supported, it works on Linux via Wine (Heroic Game Launcher)

Easy the best Stargate-Game :D

Yes, splitting the release in 2 parts is idiotic and yes, its not as polished as a Mimimi-Game and yes, doesnt contain the SG1-Team. But I like the Stargate-Atmosphere, as the sounds and visuals fit. For me personally also the gameplay fits to the franchise ( a small team with distinct skills against overwhelming enemy forces sneaking its way through the "Episode" with a fight or two on the way). Medium is the very classic Sci-Fi-Story, but I didnt expect more, so thats fine. I would like another entry in this series, but it seems it will be the first and last installment, where I am a little bit sad. Lets see, maybe there comes another Stargate game somewhen.

A Decent RTT game

First of all not a Stargate fan so I'm coming into this as a fan of the type of game instead of the IP. While the game isn't as polished as Mimimi's Stealth RTT titles but plays rather decently even with it's glitches, hiccups and odd behavior.

Could be great with some tune up

The story feels interesting enough but characters are pretty boring and dialogue is way too simple and kind of feels like it was written to ten year old. There seems to be little lore and world building, and instead it's all about the current mission. You also can't say much about voice acting because there really isn't enough to work with due to the simplicity (mission narrator is pretty bad though, and probably has the most lines to read). I've now played a few missions and I'm also getting really frustrated with the gameplay. The mechanics are there but some things take too long, e.g. certain animations can't be cancelled to avoid being seen (like picking up a corpse) and clicking on a downed enemy to tie them up is a real pain when there are several of them (you just don't see where to click. Visually the game is ok but characters can often get a bit lost in the backgroud and I found myself loading saves constantly because I simply did not notice an enemy despite them standing out in the open. I'd also prefer to see enemy line of sight cones all the time because it really wouldn't take anything away from the experience - now you have to click each enemy to see their sightlines and when you have multiple enemies to follow at the same time you have to remember what these are. As for saving, there is not autosave during missions, not even on cutscenes. You'll probably find yourself hitting quicksave constantly after every action simply because you easily find yourself cursing all the little but super annoying shortcomings. At least I found myself constantly loading due to missclicks etc. I would have liked to see more story and deeper characters, and I think that a turn based approach might have served the game better. Overall it is ok but wIth a bit of polish and fine tuning, and some RPG elements thrown in there for story, it could have been very good.
