Must be a huge fan...
...to enjoy this game. In my opinion, the series went downwards from the first three games and the last two were a pain. This one has a lot of bugs, some of which are unresolved and no solution is planned for them (see the spellforce forums). The story that was started in FiD seems very forced and confusing. The gameplay and graphics have seen no improvement.

i had forgotten how bad this was
spellforce 2 cut the number of playable factions in half. adding a few new ones did not help when the resources was also halved. income is too low to keep up with the costs of constructing buildings, meaning that i am waiting for stone almost at all times. i used all of the stone sites available to me with the building that stone can be returned to. at least spellforce 3 is better once all factions have been released.

However nowhere near as good as shadow wars.Quite buggy at times, some fun missions though, if you're a fan and sat through FiD play this but get it on sale

Good old fun, pretty much done same way as others in series... Only a bit shorter and possibly a bit weaker, more confusing story...

More GOG Eurojank
Whilst this is not a complete and utter disaster of a game this really is quite a weak affair. The Spellforce series were quite bold in their implementation of both RPG and RTS style games at the same time, but kind of thinned out the "quality for quantity" by doing so. I have tried some of the others, but this so far is the poorest of the series. - even on "easy" the difficulty is frustratingly high right from the very start - camera angles just don't co-operate with the player making things awkward, your fighting the UI just as much as your enemies! - graphics are ok but could be better - an absolute trademark of "Eurojank" is laughable voice acting, this has that by the shovel full! - the RTS elements are marred by an unforgivable sin, NO ACTIVE PAUSE, combine that with the blatantly cheating AI when it comes to the RTS parts, well....... just not fun at all. Spellforce games have a lot of potential, which they often fall short of realising, but at least they can get past some hurdles without falling, this game does so at the first. Allegedly full of bugs as well, which there is no solution for. I didn't play far enough to really experience that though.
