A way for beginners to get into TTRPGs

If you're either a beginner or want to start playing TTRPGs such as 5th edition D&D or Pathfinder, this game is a good starting point, as it'll run you through some of the more generic rules of playing such a game (Specifically 5th edition. I have no idea how well this translates to Pathfinder, but I don't like to read, so I tend to stay away from Pathfinder), as all the spells I've used in the game so far are extremely similar to their 5th edition counterparts. The game itself doesn't have very good voice acting or graphics, but you honestly don't need those things in a TTRPG as everyone has different ways of playing the game. I like the fact that you can either play alone or with friends, which is a major difference between this game and the Pathfinder ones (Kingmaker and WoTR). Keep in mind though, that if you don't play with a full squad, you'll have to control either all 4 characters or at the very least you'll have to control 2. One part I do like about it is how each class has the basic 5th edition subclass while the rest of them are unique to the game itself. I would absolutely reccomend playing this with a friend, as it gets a tad bit boring if you're playing alone (Should be easy for you Geminis out there). Overall, Solasta: Crown of the Magister is a fairly interesting game that would be a good starting point for those learning how to play TTRPGs, and I absolutely reccomend playing with all the DLC, as it adds the rest of the 5th edition classes, plus some races, backgrounds, and subclasses to use.

A rough diamond

The game is very good. This edition gets you all the DLCs (although some of them are more like game expansions). The core game has it's shortcomings as do 5th edition rules compared to 3rd or Pathfinder. But given this is an indie game, it has a lot to offer. The game is fully voice acted, graphics are OK, story is OK too. The world sometimes lacks more towns and people in it. It doesn't have a full DnD license but it takes out nearly max from what it was given, with a few unique perks. If you play this, Baldur's Gate 3 will be a lot easier for you.

If you like combat oriented CRPG

This game is based on DND 5e, though it's not an official DND product. There are some rule changes, but it's close enough. The story of the main campaign is kind of generic, though it does the job at giving your group an excuse to go adventuring. The character / party building and the tactical combat however, are really fun. I recommend using the Unfinished Business mod, which does a great job at implementing closer to tabletops rules, as well as adding feats / spells that didn't make it in the game. I'd say solasta is to BG3, what icewind dale is to BG2.

Its bad

This game has lots and lots of things that are plain bad. I will explain one of them so you get the idea what it looks like when the design team has no idea how to be remotely coherent. Tool. Proficiencies.: This is a game that prides itself on being DnD. However unlike DnD there are almost no proficiencies related to a lot of rogue actions. Specifically there is no lockpicking/disarm trap proficiency. The only rogue-ish proficiencies are stealth and sleight of hand. Sleight of hand unironically does NOTHING in the main campaign (im not exaggerating, its just tacked on for DLC). So in order to pick locks you want the thieves tools. The thieves tools have a unique tool proficiency. This tool proficiency can ONLY be acquired from a background OR a class but NOT from picking a proficiency normally like all the non-tool and non-weapon proficiencies (e.g. perception). However you dont actually need a proficiency to use the thieves tools. It just gives a bonus. Lets look at a nother tool proficiency. Smithing tools. Based on what we just learned youd think anyone can use them right? WRONG! Smithing tools REQUIRE the smithing tools proficiency to use which you can ONLY get from backgrounds. What about some other toolkits like enchanting and herbalism? Well in those cases NEITHER OF THE ABOVE APPLY! These 2 have multiple REGULAR proficiencies they can use instead of the tool kit proficiency (e.g. arcana and medicine) and do not require the actual tool kit proficiency to use either. How do you fail at something SO BASIC? HOW? I dont understand.
