Promising...

Let's start off with the bad: It says "item on cooldown" rather than something that makes more sense if you run out of potions. The action is what ends a round so if you want to heal you should move first and then drink the potion. (not explained in the game) The game is lacking on teaching you the game mechanics. The movement can screw you over due to having bad pathing, you'll need to manouver your character through empty rooms as just clicking the door on the other side may make your char. go through poisonous vapor. (a bit unnecessary to have to "micro manage the path" when you're just heading through a room) The good bit is that it is quite fun, looks nice and has a nice musical score too, of the kind you never notice in game unless you listen for it and when you do it's good. One thing some may find off-putting is that there's a rule (pure RNG) at the start of each character going into the dungeon, I've gotten "more gold", "one extra movement" and "hero takes 20% more damage" so it can screw you over a bit...but I have no problems with that mechanic. (if you would you now know about it) Looking at the text it seems like I'm not happy with it (considering the amount of text about the negative things) but that is due to me wanting to explain as well as I can what I found annoying and those things will get less annoying (prob. even disappear) as I get the hang of the game and its mechanics, so I'm happy with my purchase and I'll be playing more of this. (even though my first run seems to be going down the drain)

Not too bad, untill 2 horrible bug...

my first review i think, and i never have thought it would be a bug rage induced one :( the game seemed promising or at least not too bad until now, in the first 2 hours of play i found myself once in a seriously unbalanced scenario that cost me a prisoner, but returning to the same level with another character i found a completely new dungeon so the semi impossible situation was not there anymore, not the best player experience but ok. near the start i found an inexcusable bug, but at least it never happened again so i passed over it: in the first dungeon that every character have to play (to acquire the first 2 skill) once i found that the door to the last enemy was not there! the dungeon was isolated with no exit, i had to kill the character on a poison vent and rescue it with another character! that's mighty stupid, specially because the first dungeon is not random at all (same room, room disposition and monster, just the connecting corridor and furniture change) but it happened only once on the first dungeon so it was not a huge drama and i passed over it. BUT it was an example of really bad bug present in a theoretically finished game, and not the worst that there is as i discovered later. Today i started the game again and found that the chest with the common loot was empty! All the object accumulated in like 15-20 dungeon runs had disappeared, except the ones in the character stash. and is not an unlikely fluke, i repeated the bug easily, dropped one item in the common stash, exited the game, restarted the game and the stash was empty again!!!!! there is a really small chance that the bug is less horrible of what it seem, maybe some "features" with no warning, but the faith in the game was shattered. I'm thinking of a refund, at minimum i won't touch the game until those bugs will be patched! p.s. (ubuntu 14 here)

Cute Art

The art style of this game is great, and probably why you're here reading reviews; unfortunately, I can't recommend it. The game is hugely unbalanced, with certain abilities orders of magnitude more useful than others. Among other things, most of the spellcaster-like abilities require mana (which does not regenerate) to use and yet still don't appear to be significantly better than skills that can be re-used endlessly. The classes are balanced, but only because they're essentially identical - they can all use any gear and any skill, they just have different base stats. Some of the quests are also vastly harder than others, but you never know what your quest is until you're stuck in a dungeon. Those things might make it a bit dull, but wouldn't stop me from playing it for a bit more to see if they get better (I'm on dungeon level 8 atm.) What _will_ probably cause me to put it away are the party interface and the bugs. The party interface is super clunky; to hand an item from one character to another, you have to go to the first, move the item to a shared chest, then switch to the second and go to the shared chest to pick it up. Then if you want to clear out your shared inventory you have to pick up all the trash with a character and carry them over to the store to sell. But if you forget, and leave things in your shared chest then woe is you! Because a bug (at least, I assume it's a bug) will delete anything left in your shared chest about half the times you log out and log back in again. And saving the worst for last; there is some weird recurring bug that causes my characters to not be able to walk through an open door, so I'll slog through a dungeon gathering loot and xp only to lose it all _and_ have to send another character to rescue the first, just to add insult to injury. The gameplay isn't super deep in the first place; certainly not enough to make it worth putting up with a "Game Over; you lose" class of bug.

Fun but... Beware

Game is fun, but next to no QA went into this than bare minimum. First the Good. Gameplay is relaxing and casual, which sometimes I get into the mood for. It's not exactly easy but if you grind a little bit and keep stocked on Pots you should not go down. You can assign your stats to make characters work how you like. Everyone is the same except their skills. You can put a bow on a wizard and a staff on your warrior, it does not make much sense but you can do it. Now for some bad... Buy Item in store... reveal its bonus stats... guess what? They are all the same no matter how many you buy. Whoops... same goes for items you pickup in dungeons. Got a Axe, Dagger, & Shield... guess what? All the exact same bonus states +2 Str & 1 Luck. Movement... no intelligence applied it will walk you straight over hazards, the enemy too so if they die on it you don't get the experience. Mobs are almost always at the entrance of the room you just opened. RNG heavy... you can run an entire dungeon and get nothing for the Character you used or gems for the skills you need. Did I mention that you need an enourmous amount of cash to share gems? Seriously? You can go through 10 dungeons before you can upgrade a single freaking skill because you never get the gems you need for the skills you use. Can have chacter get nearly 100 gems for skills they cannot upgrade.. might as well just sell them instead because you cannot use themuntil you spend 10k to unlock the share chest for gems. This is just a stupid feature and pointlessly frustrating due to pure randomness!

Well, at least it's pretty.

Bugs, bugs and more bugs, many of which are game ending. This release is pretty much unadvertised early access, and should be treated accordingly. (I wouldn't have bought this if I knew it was this bad.) Even after two patches, almost nothing in this game works. Levels are frequently randomly unbeatable (invisible walls block exits / objectives), and good deal of player and enemy skills are hopelessly bugged / lock up the game. Even if everything did magically decide to work next patch or the one after that, the underlying mechanics and gameplay are pretty uninspired and repetitive. All the classes seem to play pretty much the same, there isn't much variety in dungeons or loot, and in the end, there's simply not much to recommend here once you get past the pretty graphics and boardgame theme. Maybe after an expansion this might be worth looking at seriously. Till then, there are better choices on GOG.
