The Game

Powers in the Basement is a 5/6 hours long point-and-click adventure game, deliberately reminiscent of the great classics from the 80s / 90s, with a specific sweet spot for LucasArts production.

It's a witty and sometimes surreal game, with clean humor, also suitable for children, set in a pseudo-fantasy world in which the medieval fairytale is punctuated by anachronisms, elements of modernity, and absurd references to nerd pop culture.
It's a challenging game made for puzzle lovers, those who like to have a-ha moments in the shower or while cooking, but we did our best to make it a fair and enjoyable experience for casual gamers as well.

If you are a longtime fan of this genre, well... we hope we can bring you back to your childhood for a while.

Fun Little Game

This was a very well done point and click adventure done in the style of classic like King's Quest, Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island, etc . It did a great job paying tribute to the classics of the past, and even made a number of fun pop culture references. I will say that the game was a bit short and the setting got a bit repetitive after a while, but I still had a lot of fun with it. The puzzles were pretty straight forward, but there were a few times where I had to check out a walkthrough. To be honest, I probably should have figured them out on my own, but I don't think my brain was firing on all cylinders today. That being said, you can't complain about the price, but I would gladly pay $5 for the game. Well done team!

Excellent small P&C adventure

Oh, what a surprise. This is a small, cozy old style P&C adventure that follows in the footstep of the great Lucasfilm Games of old, and in more than one way: the graphics style, the animation style, the quirky humour and writing and the inventory puzzles all feel like they came from the '90s - and I say this as the best compliment I can think of. I really enjoyed playing it, and if I have to point out a few downsides I'd say there's a misure of pixel hunting and sadly no highlight key, and the puzzles rely too much on moon logic - which is actually kind of expected in a short game. Now I wish the devs start making a bigger, more ambitious game, because I think they have what it takes to make GREAT P&C games (and please, PLEASE keep the same interface - there's not enough verbs in the world!). And it's FREE! Feels like a steal. Excellent job.

Old school experience

It's fun and looks really nice - with all of the retro game mechanic downsides. You'll be pixel hunting and scratching your head, especially with the increased resolution compared to old games. I was determined to click on every object but still didn't find all of them.

A great free little old-style gem

A nice (free) and very ironic homage to the old-style graphic adventures of Lucas Art, following the graphic style, the animations, the light-hearted humor and the eccentric writing. With the exception of a few pixel-hunting areas and a few try-with-everything-style puzzles I'll manage to come up with, some false leads (which still lead to hilarious results) and some well-hidden achievements that are not easy to unlock, it was a very pleasant gaming experience. The final credit screens are real hilarious gems. Frankly, I wouldn't mind seeing what this team would be capable of doing with a more substantial and longer adventure (editor's note: they would probably spend too much time cleaning bugs :P)

Funny Point and click

A short but funny point and click game. Many funny achievements to unlock , overall not a waste of time. The creators made it short but shows that they actually cared for the outcome. Also for those who have played Lucas arts games, there are a couple of nostalgic references.
