Description

Welcome to the chaotic world

Plebby Quest: The Crusades is a turn-based strategy game set during the crusades of Europe and the Middle East. You must survive between ambitious rulers dreaming of building an empire, treacherous neighbours that long to burn your kingdom, and the religion which always makes unreasonable demands. Survive and build your kingdom’s legacy to last centuries.

Hard, Yet Tender

After drawing hard and straight outlines, we drew unique faces for our characters. Then we had them stand in front of solid color tone backgrounds and brought them to life with our in-house software. Behold! They laugh, rage, and tells us their stories with their chewy and tender movements.

Two Game Modes

In Scenario mode you will follow a character’s story, while in Sandbox mode you can conquer the world without any restriction. Each mode is connected and will affect the other. Good choices and decisions from past games will lead your future plays to success.

Friend or Enemy?

Neighbouring kingdoms remember your behaviour and will react to it. Critical mistakes bring dissent and lead to war. If you react according to a character’s personality, they will open their mind.

Accusation

In the 11th century, persons without faith were either barbarians beyond the borders, or heretics that were burned at stake. Every kingdom is under the influence of a religion, and will demand your kingdom prove their faith.

Conspiracy & Backroom Deals

Every June, a meeting is held during which believers of each faith gather to condemn and denounce the others. Kingdoms will condemn one another, while religious leaders will stop a war or demand a crusade. You must do anything possible to turn the participants’ opinion to your liking, including bribes, threats, and all kinds of dirty tricks.

All will be forgiven in the name of God.

Easy Choices and Terrible Costs

There are many choices before you start a war. However, once a war begins, everything will come down to either one of two choices: Will you burn them? Or will you be burnt?

Really like this

I play a lot of map games and turn based games to chill out. I just see lines on a map change, mess with history, have to think a little about what I am doing, and then next thing I know five hours have flown by. I have played a lot of the big name games- but damn this game is fun. It's silly, works well, looks nice, does the things a map game does. You got your moines and trade to worry about. Building an army, messing around with faith. Making deals. Nothing super deep, and really it kinda feels like what CK2 would be like after 5 or 6 beers. But still not be dumb or poorly made. IDK have fun and play a fun game with some nice depth and some fun scenarios to mess around in. I am so happy to have found this game. I didn't know I was looking for something like this for awhile. It's just a nicely make thing that you can tell has a lot of TLC put into it and I would love to see the team take on other eras. It would be neato.

Fun little game with a few flaws

Plebby Quest is fun little world conquering game based in the medieval period. Turned-based and every turn you're limited on how much you can do based on the number of generals you have available, which are also limited by your kingdom size and research level. Game can really suck you in quick. However, there are a few flaws that one may not be able to get past. First, the scenario game, which is supposed to be the "how-to play" trainer is rather annoying. Lot's of little scenes that you have to sit through in order to play the game. You are supposed to be able to quickly go through these scenes by holding CTRL. The problem is that you also have to press the space bar to move the dialogue along. Then ESC key to exit the scene when finished. You can skip scenes but run the risk of missing vital information. These are in the main game as well, though not as much. A single key press would help here. Second, there are a lot ( A LOT) of mini games that you have to play. Most aren't bad and some even fun...for awhile. After that, it gets repetitive fast. Also, often, it is not clear exactly what you should be doing (or not). Trial and error is the only way. Finally, the one BIG issue is the mini games that use the coin flip game. It's downright frustrating. In most situations, it's a game where you have time the spinning of 3 to 5 coins in order to make them match up to the prize that you want. I know I'm terrible at it, but it's still basically nothing more than RNG so it would be much better to simply make it that with better ways to affect the outcome. This is the one thing that will probably make me stop playing the game. Still, all in all, if you get this game on sale for around $5.00 US, you'll be able to get your money out of it in fun and entertainment.

not God, can't forgive this

ahistorical "religion bad" stories have been tired for decades now, but if you're going to do it you could at least do better than literally just scribbling faces on squares. This is the most visually unappealing game I've seen that I can remember, it's an insult to ask money for this when you'd be blessed if someone accepted it for free. think of all the strategy games that are basically exactly like this, but don't look like jokes just look at it. what were they thinking?

Feels too off history

Whichever faction I chose, be it Europe, I had mostly arabic and black generals despite them being separate enemies historically, including their religion, as at the time it was Christian vs Islam. Feels very foreign and not at home. The texts didn't catch me and I couldn't bear looking at the overall design to even get to a fight.

Plebby Quest, eh?

Sort of like a modern take on Kingmaker (PC, 1994 from Avalon Hill.... a wishlist request here on GoG!) except in 2D-side scroller form.... looking forward to getting into it in depth and giving it a real score.... 👑
