I wanted to like this game but I just could not finish it. I put maybe five hours into it so I feel qualified to write a review. The game starts out fine enough and it feels like something you should play but the mechanics start to wear on you. Your character, Kurt, is possibly one of the slowest moving characters in videogame history. I feel that if he were faster, I might have enjoyed it better. Most of the game feels like tedious trial and error; while that is appealing in some titles, it is not in this one. Too many deaths suffer from twitch gameplay in a title that doesn't feel like it should have twitch gameplay. The music is so-so. It ranges from nearly toe-tapping jazz to late 90's video game spaz. There are plenty of secrets and hidden items to be found but you won't want to try to reach them as the risk vs. payoff is imbalanced. If there is one good thing I can say about the game, it is that the bosses are interesting. The rest of the enemies in the game are very uninspired. I'm giving this a three as the price is not too high and the visuals are appealing.

Pid is mesmerizing. The art style and music are top-notch, and it's very fun to play. The first review of the game I read before buying was by PC Gamer, and it was faulted for being too hard. But so far I have not found it challenging in an unfair way or frustrating at all, in fact it's one of the tightest platformers I've played in recent memory.

Yes, it is very pretty. But that's about it. The gameplay would be fine, though not dazzling, were it not for the bossfights. This game simply should not have bossfights, not the way it's designed. It simply doesn't control like a game suited for those. The core mechanics don't really support that. It's a game for jumping platforms and solving simple puzzles. The bossfights end up being tedious and rather frustrating, as they break the pace and flow of the game.

I picked this up for 99 cents at the last Insomnia sale, and I wasn't convinced I would like it. In fact, I like it better than some games I've spent a lot more money on. It's just a fun little game. The controls are a bit awkward at times, but I found this game addictive. Once I started playing, I couldn't stop. It was like a sci-fi version of Super Mario Bros. The visuals were quite beautiful as well. A fun way to lose yourself for a few hours.
