Well designed game with some flaws

This game, as expected, fully concentrates on the building experience of a PC. It´s slow paced and very relaxing if you generally like to build PCs. The level of technical details is amazing. Nearly every part of constructing a computer is there to experience. The graphics are nice but not amazing. The lack of Antialiasing is strange. The biggest flaw of the game is the economic part: It's tedious to look for parts for each assignment. It's not fun if you have to guess which part has exactly the power you need for the system. Additional you only get little money for used high-end parts. So I lost my interest in the campaign after a while. This is the first true simulation game I played so maybe I'm not patient enough to ignore the flaws. Overall I can suggest this game, especially for the low price.

Overly guided and far from complete...

... but despite that, mildly entertaining. This is basically advertising for computer component manufacturers, in "game" form. You play as a PC builder, with a limited selection of components to choose from, all based upon info directly from the product vendors. You have a passable selection of motherboards, RAM, and CPUs. A small number of choices for cases and power supplies, a remarkably small number if storage options, and as far as add-in cards go, ONLY video cards (though a decent selection of those). You can expand your selection by DLC... which I think is overpriced, honestly, given what's provided in each. But that just gives you brand-specific addutional items, and no real new functionality. I've been custom-building PCs since I threw away my only pre-fab PC, a Packard Bell Legend, in frustration several decades back. My iwn, and ones I've built for others. I've built, and upgraded, and rebuilt new systems from previously retired parts, countless times. There's a LOT more that goes into building, or updating, a system than this game shows. Allowing for other types of hardware... say, dedicated sound cards, or TV tuner cards, or freakin OPTICAL DRIVES... which may be in market-share decline, especially in laptops, but are still very much a part of most desktop builds... would be a vast improvement. And emulating BIOS setup... with an appropriate BIOS style abd options for the motherboard, CPU, memory, storage, etc, chosen... would be a HUGE step towards changing this from a piece of advertising into an actual "PC building simulator." It's not awful... and can be entertaining. But don't think you can learn how to set up a real PC based upon having played this. Any more than you'd know how to fly a jet from playing a coin-op arcade game like "F15." This is an interactive sales tool, nothing more.

a really good pc building sim

let me start by saying that i love the game, it's refreshing to see a slower paced game for a change. one thing that would improve the game would be customisable boards and maybe repairing/diagnosing componants, overall a very engaging game if you like building PCs, one thing i'd ask for in this game would be an expansion pack/ dlc that added laptops, all-in-ones, and tablet computers.

Surprisingly addictive simulator

Since I'm a bit into computer hardware myself I had to give this a try. I'm surprised in how the game keeps me motivated to go on, so here's why! You start off your business with a bad reputation, so the jobs you get for the first days are pretty basic. You slowly build reputation to get more elaborate (and lucrative) your jobs. These can vary between simple virus scans, or finding and replacing defective parts, to even building a rig from scratch, based on given requirements. You gradually unlock better components and other useful tools to fulfil your customers needs. Take an extra close look to your customers emails (not too hard to get) and you'll be awarded with the best ratings! Someone mentioned it's rather tedious at some point to keep track of components and guessing which ones bring a high enough score to match a customer's requirements. While it's true that you can easily lose track of your orders and all the different parts (a custom note feature would be very useful here!), there are tools you can unlock that'll help you find out what CPU/GPU scores how many points to make your life easier and less of a guesswork. It's not unlike real life, where you just have to do a little research to see how well some components do and which don't. With time you'll get a better understanding for it and you can handle jobs faster and with more certainty. The emails you get are also kinda funny at times. You also can listen to either some of the game's own tracks, or your own music, or a large selection of online radios through your computers music player! In general there's quite a lot of attention to detail and even if some aspects are not the most accurate or realistic, it comes close enough to be still fun! Boot times or installing software is rather quick which totally helps the gameplay not to make it boring or tedious. All in all I can recommend this to people who are either into hardware or like to manage a small one man business, or better yet, both.
