Hmmm... Interesting
This is quite an interesting game, but not necessarily for the right reasons though. Starting with the sound... there is none, I'm okay with that, but in this day and age, I would have at least expected an option for some background music. The presentation is pretty bland, but finding your way around the menus is fairly straightforward and functional. The races look good as top-down, dots on a map, I really like that and for me it works well. There is no tutorial or guide of any kind, you are completely blind and thrust straight into the game, so if you're a bit of a maverick you'll love it, but that may not be for everyone. It isn't a difficult game to learn but the game probably should tell you that your staff (the little briefcase) and the number of them are key to negotiating contracts with drivers, suppliers, staff and sponsors. The weather is interesting in the game too, it will vary throughout the course of a race and that is great. However, the game doesn't give you much or any useful information about the rain. Just a radar which tells you how wet the track is, rather than a more useful forecast. So on occasion that has caught me out. The gameplay is very reminiscent of the old Championship Manager games, which I think works perfectly for this style of game. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any real depth to the game. As the team principal, we can't create our own teams, we're not directly involved in negotiations, we just instruct the engineers to develop new parts and set the strategy for the race. This doe make the game quite tedious, quite quickly. I feel like I've spent my time criticising Open Wheel Racing, and it would be easy to leave the review there, but, I've played it for about 10hours or more so far and it does pull me in, it is casual and enjoyable. If that is what you're looking for, I would recommend it. It you want something more detail-orientated then perhaps this isn't the game for you.
