Possibly the worst game I ever played

I own, and regrettably played, this game on Steam. This game is a train wreck in terms of production values, but it's based on a fascinating source material. The game is based on a French graphic novel series which is apparently highly regarded, but I'm left with the distinct feeling that a lot of stuff was cut out for the game, and there wasn't any effort to smooth over the resulting plot holes. Gameplay-wise, it's a first person point & click adventure game, similar in play style to Myst. The puzzles are frustrating. Not just because they're unintuitive (they are), but also because you have a time limit on a lot of them, and you die if you don't act quickly. Individual steps in a solution often need to be done in a specific order, even if logically they could be done in any order and the result would be the same. The interface is also fiddly, and the cursor icons are obtuse. It's not always clear what will happen if you click on something. Sometimes, clicking on the same thing twice in a row does something different the second time. You can get stuck in places just because you foolishly only clicked the important macguffin once, and then disregarded it based on what happened the first time.

A review for the fans.

Yea, five stars. I gave it that much, because I've read the original comic and watched the movie. Also, I've walked through the game with a guide, so, yeah, I've just enjoyed the story and the visuals. I well understand the other review entitled "Terrible story". The game doesn't tell you enough, really - to fully understand what's going on you have to at least be vaguely aware of the original comic book. Too much is left untold in the game itself - so it just doesn't work without a comic book (8and movies has a way too different plot). So yes, on its own it is definitely not a five stars game. Among the Nikopol stories - man, it is probably the best. I like the more serious tones, the new additions... I definitely recommend to any fan of Bilal's work to experience this take on it - even though Enki himself haven't took part in creating this game, the guys who created it obviously were fans themselves. In two words, the text above is for those people who like the original and who question if they should try this game. The answer is - yes, you absolutely should.

Too Short and Simple

As point and click games go, this is probably going to be one of the easiest ones you have ever played. Really, I had more difficulties with games aimed at kids than with this one. The game is very linear and you only have the things in your inventory that you need right now, so there's not much trial an error involved - which is a good thing, I hate inventory puzzles, but the environmental puzzles aren't anything to write home about either. Ironically, the toughest part might be the first area in your apartment, from there on everything gets smaller and simpler. I think the devs realized that they weren't able to finish in time if they kept this up. Then there's also the problem with the story. I had no idea what was going on. I have seen the movie based on the comic some years back, but couldn't remember much of it. This game tells you little and you seem to play a pretty minor role in the plot, so I felt pretty lost. And then it's suddenly over. I think you can finish this game on your first playthrough in about two hours. I needed five, but I left the game running while doing other things I assume. From a technical standpoint the game still holds up. It looks nice and plays very smoothly. All in all, it was definitely worth the 1,07 Euro, but I wouldn't advise people to pay more.

I can't find how to put the game in French. According to the game description, there is no audio and the texts are available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish. Already, this is not exact because there is a lot of audio, in English. Then, at the time of installation, there is the choice between English, German, Spanish and Italian but not French. I thought then to have access to it after the installation, in the options of the menu, but no, nothing!

Short Strange Scifi

It was as weird and wonderful as almost all whitebirds games are I completed it in about 8 hours. The story is very religion heavy but that doesn't distract from the strangeness of it all and is really wonderful tale. Excellent experience but short.
