Mortal Glory 2 - Reign of Tyrants
Description
Roll an explosive barrel at your enemy, throw them into a pit or take out two enemies by knocking them into each other. With a wide variety of tools available to you, your creativity will determine how you deal with the competition. Unique arenas, randomized environments and occasional special rules ensure that each fight offers new tactical opportunities.
A wide variety of fantasy races are seeking glory, each with their own unique racial strengths. Whatever your tactics are, finding the best recruits is essential!
There is a vast collection of unique relics, character perks and more to discover. Finding clever combos and deadly synergies will unlock new strategies and occasionally turn your gladiators into unfairly strong demons.
Various difficulty settings will accommodate your preferred playstyle and there are increasingly harder challenges to master. But beware... The AI is brutally talented at the highest levels.
With every step comes a new challenge or perhaps... an opportunity? It is up to you to guide where your team should travel next... and suffer the consequences.
Each playthrough is different! With various tactics to try and additional increasingly harder challenges to master, the arena will keep welcoming you back again and again. Thanks to conveniently paced combat, Mortal Glory 2 is also great to play if you only have a moment to spare.

I am a huge fan of Mortal Glory 1, so I was awaiting the sequel with excitement. But sadly, for me, MG2 is a disappointment. Everything is simplified and toned down.
* No Gladiator management at all. You cannot recruit your gang and decide who goes into a battle.
* The item shop is only available when the game decides, and it also serves as recruitment with only 3 choices.
* No wages you have to pay for your gladiators
* The map view does not make much sense, is there only one battle per.. city? (Or whatever the locations represent.. no idea)
* The story pieces seem to be reduced and also .. only on map locations.
It feels in total like a bland version of MG1 with less depth. Sorry devs.
I love pretty much all the concepts in the game.
The tactical fighting is fun.
Having multiple types of characters allow different approach.
I'm a fan of path selection like other rogue-lite.
How we improve our characters is nicely done with the stats and level up.
There's a small issue though which for me remove a star.
I don't feel like we can have amazingly strong builds.
In rogue-lite like this, I love having some runs where everything aligns and I become a god.
In this game, there's not enough room for it.
The amount of stuff we can equip/learn limits a lot this potential. (And seems to limit a solo character run)
With that being said, it is well balanced.
There's still some fun combo of items and skills to try.
I recommend.
Mortal Glory 2 is a turn-based roguelite, focused on strategy and party management. It's basically a more polished Mortal Glory with streamlined mechanics and new features. The most obvious difference is Adventure Mode, which contains a map in the style of Slay the Spire, where you plan and choose your path on each run.
You now earn XP after every run, allowing you to gradually unlock content. Many aspects of the runs can be tweaked using modifiers and challenges. You can make the game as easy or as difficult as you want it to be. Combat feels smooth and satisfying, with a nice variety of character builds. Of course there are some combinations that work better than others, but you are free to customize the skills and stats of your characters as they grow. There are also new environmental elements in the arena to take into consideration, such as barrels with varying effects, pits, monster cages, etc. This adds another layer of strategy to the gameplay.
If you are a fan of the first game, you might miss some of the old gladiator management aspects, such as paying the wages of your party, treating injuries, etc. Although not exactly the same thing, there's a Classic Mode that brings back some of the gameplay feel of the original. You have access to the shop at all times, and you get fights and events in a certain order, for example. You don't choose your path like in Adventure Mode.
Overall, although some mechanics were streamlined, they are not simplistic. This game is straightforward and, more importantly, fun. The new features increase replayability and make this sequel a great package. I highly recommend Mortal Glory 2.
Very nice AI and a worth sequel. Highly recommended if you like tactical turn-based strategy games and roguelikes. Some non-sensical reviews here on GoG unfortunately. This definitely deserves a higher rating and more visibility
What can I say? It's nearly the end of 2024, and I played 12 hours of this game. If you came in to expect a tripple A product. You're expecting too much. This game gives you everything you need from an arena fighter. I love it. You get to push people into walls, down some holes, into fire. The rng is bonkers. If you like randomness, you'll love it too. So, enjoy ! : D
