Remake Good but not perfect
The remake of Master of Orion has many good points however it doesn't have the same strategic depth of number one or two. In the original game a ship could go to any system in range. In number 2 they introduced wormholes as a portal between two systems. The addition of wormholes allowed for more flexibility in your strategy as wormhole linked planets allowed fast travel of vast distances. This advantage was mitigated by the rarity of the system. In the remake of Master of Orion they have made warp points between systems forcing you to follow those lines. This seems to make it feel more like a game of risk rather than a space game. It hasn't made the same mistake as Master of Orion 3, but number 1 and 2 still seem to be better than the remake. It's not a bad game and this game is technically still in development. I did think that the tech tree was dome better than number 2. Instead of forcing you to miss out on most of the technology on offer the remake only occasionally giving you the choice between one of two techs. I also love the introduction of real time tactical battles to the mix. With a bit of work this game could become a real gem.
