8/10

If you’ve already played the original LEGO City Undercover on Wii U, then there is little reason to pick up this re-release. However, if you were one of the many who missed it the first time around then LEGO City Undercover remains a hilarious riff on police procedurals, built upon a GTA-for-juniors open world blueprint, and stuffed with enjoyable side missions and collectibles to hunt down. The addition of split-screen play, cursory in its execution as it may be, only makes the game more appealing to players who would prefer to experience LEGO City Undercover with a friend riding shotgun. And what's a good police story without a partner in crime-fighting?

Preservation Program needs work

This is probably one of the best open-world Lego games ever made. However, it was always a bad PC port in terms of performance. From the day it was initially released, it suffered from CTDs, missing textures, poor performance and framepacing, etc. There is a fix for these problems though. It is called Lego City Recovered which is simply an older tailored version of Special K. This small mod allows the framerate to be unlocked over 60 while remaining stable, and addresses most, if not all of the crashes due to poor handling of multithreading. This mod is now also built into the main releases of Special K, but it loses fps in comparison to the tailored version unless a launch command of MAX FPS 0 is also entered. We thus arrive at my point. It's a fantastic game that has already been fixed by modders, yet GOG has released it just as broken as the other platforms. GOG is notorious for using fan-made patches and software, but when it comes to the so-called "Preservation Program", GOG isn't and han't done anything whatsoever.

Great game, very fun time.

Having played some amount of LEGO games, I can say this is probably the best one. New mechanics were added, the humor is on point and it is quite a big game which keeps changing the gameplay enough to not become boring. It is also a lot of fun for kids, they will not want to put this one down!

Kidsfriendly lego Grand Theft Auto

My son and I have 100% achivement, four times. The game is great. The split screen co-op is great. I have written to Lego to get expansions and would pre-order.. thats how much I have played and loved this game. The best lego game out there.. way past lego fortnite lego, pirates, Jurassic and StarWars. Lego bricktales is also good, but this is the good stuff!

Great game but suffers Crash to Desktop

I appreciate GOG releasing this on the store. The game is a solid 5 star from me that has built in split screen. However this current version suffers from the same CTD bug found in the Steam and other PC versions. Am hoping GOG will be able to remedy, until then I can only give it 3 stars.

Love letter to cop tv series and movies

This game is quite different from everything TT did until then, it's obviously inspired by GTA, an open world with lots to do and explore. But it really shines when you know the references to 70s to 90s cop tv shows and movies. You have your yelling police chief, cops liberating the world from donuts, your comic relief, the blonde damsel in distress. Columbo, Dirty Harry, Starsky and Hutch, Chips, you name it. If it was filmed, you find at reference to it in this game. While the music is mostly 70s funk and 80s rock, cut scenes are often done in 90s style, including slow mothon running and waving hair to rock music. The game was designed for the Wii U and has very simple controls. Instead of having one character with multiple skills, you can (and have to) switch between costumes to change the skill you want to use. While this is not a bad idea to keep it simple, later in the game it becomes a bit annoying, having to switch char all the time. Other Lego games do this better, here it is part of the gameplay. The scanner to find hidden object is also useful to find objects in the world. Sadly you can't mark them and it's not always easy to determine how far they are away or where they are located. You basically only see the direction. So you either have en edeic memory or you have to pull it out the scanner over again if they are hidden behind other objects. The game has a large range of vehicles, costumes to collect and there are the so called super builds, large attractions that you can build with the bricks you collect, sometimes unlocked by races or easy riddles. Hint: Build the roller coaster late, it is in the middle of the path for a stunt course and if you build it, it can get in the way, the collision detection at that point is not good and it is quite random if you make it or not. Later in the game you get jetpacks, helicopters and what not to help you reach areas with more items to collect. One of TTs best Lego games for sure.
