While it has an okay story and some well thought out puzzles, that does not save this game from the large amount of problems it has. Poor controls, a bad translation, terrible dialogue, weak voice acting, graphic and audio bugs and visually it looks like a game from 5-10 years ago. It's difficult to recommend this even if you're a big adventure game fan like me.
I should preface this by saying that I've been having a lot of trouble with my son. Recently, he's discovered the wide world of the internet as well as computer gaming, and he hasn't been listening to his mother or myself at all.
Jack Keane, your Fire Within has cleansed my son of all desire to turn on a computer from this day forth! He cleaned his room, did the dishes, and wept as he said his prayers. When I asked what brought about the change, he screamed through the raining tears, "JACK KEANE! JACK KEANE!"
Bless you, Jack Keane...
Almost unplayable. Controls are buggy. Even when checking with a walkthrough to be sure i did the good thing, i wasn't able to succeed, because then game doesn't respond correctly. I had to try again and again until it works. And that occurs pretty often. And where are the jokes of the first game ? I abandoned playing at the middle of the story, disgusted, and that is rare enough to mention it.
Jack Keane is solid adventure game, but it doesn't shine in anything.
TL/DR: All in all, Jack Keane 2 is solid average adventure, that you can play over the weekend and enjoy it's treasure hunting story. Don't expect anything ground breaking though. I'd say, buy it on sale if you are fan of standard run-of-the-mill adventures.
Graphics are nice enough - your eyes won't bleed, but it is also nothing to get exited for.
Sound and music are.. well average. Not terrible, not great.
Gameplay and story wise - Puzzles are manageable, they don't tend to be absurd, although there is a fair share of solutions that are 'humorous' (read: 'what did they smoke while writing them') . Story is okay. It is your average 'hero travels the world with his companions to search for treasure and thwart the villain' kind of plot. What I liked about game-play is, there are some really nice and interesting situations. On the other hand I really hated constant bickering of two female companions. And since the game forces you to take sides with either one of them, you can be sure, that the other one WILL be bi***ing about it. Also, main hero is somewhat unlikable. The game is trying to show you his character development, but I just felt, that it doesn't do a very good job, resulting in Jack coming out a little bit as unlikable man child, who can't decide whether he wants to grow up.
".... Then, Jack Keane 2: The Fire Within hit. The Windows point-and-click adventure has brought the GOG.com DRM-Free Fall Insomnia Sale to a halt. As of this posting, Jack Keane 2 has been the featured game for over two hours. In the 15 minutes its taken to write this article, a grand total of 5 copies have been sold for $11.99, 60% off the normal $29.99. There is no past. There is no future. There is only Jack Keane.
Which has lead to some truly hysterical reactions from the community. People have taken to the Jack Keane 2 product page to spam it with false, 5 star reviews, in an attempt to trick people into purchasing a game that has a 69 average score on Metacritic."
CMON PEOPLE, thats why we cant have nice things, cmon, seriously? false 5 stars reviews? Dont brake the review system just because you want to save 4 dollars on games, CMON.
