Description

Iron Harvest is a real-time strategy game (RTS) set in the alternate reality of 1920+, just after the end of the Great War. The Game lets you control giant dieselpunk mechs, combining epic singleplayer and coop campaigns as well as skirmishes with intense action on the battlefield for multiplayer fans, Iron Harvest is the classic real-time strategy games fans have been waiting for.

Tradition clashes with scientific and technological progress, while Europe is still recovering from the brutal battles of the World War. Cities are being rebuilt and in the countryside, the era of the Iron Harvest has begun. Farmers are uncovering the remains of the majestic walking machines that had fought on the battlefields of the Great War.

In the midst of this chaos, a new threat appears that will put Europe’s very existence at risk. Secret forces are putting everything they can towards destabilization of entire countries, determined to set the world on fire once again and finally seize control.

Lead dozens of different unit types into battle, carefully utilize cover and blast entire buildings to shreds. Take your time to come up with a plan which allows for a wide range of tactics, including a stealth approach. Mechs. We got mechs. Lots of them.

Experience an epic overarching story, spanning more than 20 missions over three campaigns. Join nine charismatic heroes and their beastly companions in their adventures across Europe. Team-up with a friend and master all campaigns side-by-side in co-op.

Command three diverse factions with over 40 unit types and 9 heroes with unique abilities. Setup skirmish and multiplayer matches any way you want. Configure your personal game interface and choose your favourite input controls.

Competitive multiplayer with ladders, ranked matches & leagues. Choose from a vast selection of skirmish maps and challenge maps, available to play in singleplayer and coop. In addition expect regular free updates during the season, including new singleplayer challenges, multiplayer maps and more to look forward to.

Conquer resource points, build your base and place fortifications to protect your unit production and research.

Cross-play multiplayer with Steam is supported.

Still Beta

- Features are missing - Bugs from the Beta still there. - Cover System still feels weird, was supposedly fixed according to magazine reviews, don't see it. - Graphics all over the Place - Interface Buggy and unresponsive - Very, very few Multiplayer maps - Didn't even bother to remove the Open Beta Tag (lul) - not-Coop campaign is not to my taste. very simple, very limited, story meh. But to be fair my friends liked the story, so maybe I'm not seeing something here. Bottom line: Wait another 1-2 years. Don't do Kickstarters, buy somewhere that allows you a refund. Reviews apparently don't actually review this game but supposedly what is to come the next years. How is that even a thing.

Not a DRM-Free game...

If you play this with offline profile, you can start the game, but you can't play the game...What a shame. Game is fine to me, but annoying DRM...

Still has a long way to go

So I've played about 3 hours (campaign only). I enjoyed quite a bit, buuut there are problems, sadly. I'm someone who's willing to give a small indie studio a chance to improve after launch, so I might be way more forgiving then most people are, but I will focus entirely on the bad parts here, so that hopefully the devs know what to fix. 1. If you watch the cut-scenes/trailers etc, something doesn't make sense. The mechs move slowly like lumbering beasts are their rate of fire is also low, but then you go into the game and (all) the units move and shoot WAY too fast, ESPECIALLY the mechs. The devs promised a more methodical slow RTS, that doesn't reward blobbing. This is not the case and I think this will kill the game if it isn't balanced/fixed, because it just makes the game feel like a run of mill RTS with no depth. 2. Cover is weird. It works and the units auto-vault over cover which is way better then COH, BUT...after cover is destroyed...that's it...you don't have it anymore, ever. Unlike COH there is no medium/heavy cover and you can't take cover in artillery holes, or behind mechs etc, so after a while it's just a blob fest of infantry/mechs just shooting each other in the open. 3. There is no heavy armor in this game. Any unit can destroy any other unit or building. So you can just shoot a mech with a bunch of normal infantry and take it down. They really dropped the ball here again. Why not have more units that can be upgraded with antitank sidegrades? What I'm trying to say is THE MECHS DON'T FEEL GOOD/SPECIAL. In COH when you get a Tiger Tank...that thing is just a sight to behold, here they just feel like a slightly bigger infantry unit. Also the sound's they make a kinda lackluster, no engine sounds, no crazy metal on metal screeching when they fight each other. They should have focused on them a lot more. I really hope they stick to it and fix these, because the potential is very high for this game.

I have hope

So congratulations, you made a reskin of Dawn of War II: Retribution. Or Company of Heroes, but really with the mechs it feels way more DoW. So yes, I credit you for that. However, there was a lot missed out on. To catch anyone up who is reading this, I'll summarize: DoW and CoH were games which introduced a great cover system, individual unit command, powerful armor such as tanks and mechs, heroic units, and base building all into an RTS game that may not have been cut out for competitive multiplayer, but was still rich and fulfilling. Especially singleplayer. This game used the same format, and gave us a new setting. I was very excited. The game falls short, however, in the execution. As others have mentioned there was no heavy armor, so everything is vulnerable to everything else. There's also no heavy cover. This means all cover is destructible and relatively useless. Many fights devolved into melee scuffles or just soldiers standing in the open and firing bolt action rifles very ineffective at each other. Overall, at the moment, I would say not worth the price point. Go buy DoWII or CoH for less and get a more polished game. However, with the recipe for success so very obviously out there I have hope that this game will be able to follow it.
