Homeworld: Emergence was originally released as "Homeworld: Cataclysm". "Cataclysm" is now a registered trademark of Blizzard Entertainment, Inc., and the game has been renamed to avoid confusion. Other than the subtitle change, the game is identical to the game released in 2000.

15 years ago, we were awakened from the cryo-trays. We had survived the journey to Hiigara, our lost homeworld. Then they told us that the planet we left behind had been destroyed. Our families... friends... everyone not on the mothership - killed. Destroyed by an enemy we never knew.

We realized there was nothing for us on Hiigara. No property, no rights, no future for the "Sleepers". So we returned to the stars, fully awake this time, to work and rebuild our lives.

It is ironic, then, that we are the ones to discover an alien capable of exterminating all life in the galaxy. And only we are in a position to destroy it.

Fifteen years after returning to their homeworld, a Hiigaran sect unwittingly releases an alien horror. Now it's up to you to commandeer the Kuun-Lan, a Hiigaran mining vessel, and transform it into a combat-ready mothership. Build and control a fleet of ships, research technologies, and harvest resources while you search for a way to eradicate the alien threat before it is too late.

My favorite Homeworld game

Homeworld: Cataclysm was my personal favorite entry in the Homeworld series. It adds a few smart features that you wanted from base Homeworld (no more fuel for fighters, time lapse for resource gathering) and has a great narrative. The Kuun-Lan is a great platform that the story centers around and the growth/advancement of your ship shows clearly throughout the game. It's been quite a while since I played it, but I'm excited that GOG has it and I'm looking forward to diving back in even if they have been forced to change the name due to some odd trademark held by Blizzard.

I thought this was lost forever

You guys are amazing! Everyone thought the source code for Cataclysm was lost, even Gearbox itself. And you somehow managed to get it anyways. I'm eternally grateful for this, and now I can just hope for a remaster of it. Praise aside, this game is amazing, improves on the original Homeworld in many ways. Buy it.

OH BOY, OH BOY, OH BOY! :3

Well people, who know me, also know, that i am a sucker for EVERYTHING Homeworld! It is HANDS DOWN my favourite series and Cataclysm/Emergence is no exception. While it wasn't developed by Relic Entertainment (the initial creators of Homeworld) it really shines in its unique way. While Homeworld was kind of slow paced, trying to tell an epic story, Cataclysm is something i can only describe as a "Horror RTS"! Yes, i mean that in a serious way! Okay it may not be a Silent Hill, or something of that caliber, it still is the scariest RTS i know. The story is so dense and tight, you'd need a chainsaw to cut the tension sometimes. Just a GREAT RTS overall and a MUST BUY! One downside is there however. The OST is VERY heavily compressed. Just how everything was back then and on top of that, the game REALLY lacks in texture quality on some of the Beast-ships. I don't know, but it seems like they had to rush it. Other than that: AWESOME game! I am SO happy, that you can find it now on GoG! Thank you very much for this gem ^^

The best of the 3

If I had to order all these games, I would put Cataclysm/Emergence at the top, with Homeworld 1 next and 2 at the bottom. This was, quite simply, the best of the series, with much more emotional voice acting, more indepth missions that weren't just "shoot down every enemy", awesome soundtracks, better in-game graphics (pseudo lens flares, more active backgrounds to simulate space) and the list goes on. You have to get this and play it! :D

Some more Languages

one of my favourite games, back in days. I would be very happy if the game is extended by some languages. I bought it, but my Enlish is not the best. Greetings from Germany
