Unspectacular, but occasionally helpful

I got this DLC for free as part of the pre-order/early-buyer package. I'm generally not fond of such microtransactions, but if you wonder if it might be useful to you: - The weapons are quickly replaced and not all that good. - The armor pieces, notably the gloves and hat, are quite useful for their talent bonuses (crafting/insight, respectively) and retain their usefulness for the entire game -- both checks come up regularly.

A bit annoying.

First off, I don't own the DLC but looked up what the items are and do. Understandable that they have to be somewhat desirable for anyone to pay for them but what sucks is that out of all the items, the game has no other equivalent for the hat which gives +1 to a certain talent skill. Other items, you will exchange pretty quickly but the hat will forever stay in your inventory because it gives you a talent point you wouldn't have access to otherwise. Even if some other hat with the same bonus was available normally in the game but at around mid or late game, it would be OK. But as it is now, this DLC basically equals 1 free talent point for your playthrough (if you keep swapping hats when needed). Besides the hat, it is basically an easier start cheat. You find other gloves with +1 to crafting pretty quickly in the prologue anyway and the other items are meh/get exchanged quickly.

Small Buffs Mostly Reasonably Done Fluff

I received a free copy of Greedfall and bought this mostly as a tip to the developers since I'm enjoying it thus far. Items give you a small leg up early game without being game-breakingly overpowered. Is it essential content at great value? Not particularly, especially by comparison, when the game itself goes between cheap and free. But the unique hat at least remains useful throughout the game, so it isn't entirely limited to slightly superior starter gear, and like all outfits/weapons in game they are well-rendered and detailed. When you consider this was originally part of the pre-order, it's about what you'd expect for a reasonable sum. Think the low rating is due the general dislike of DLC gear and gamers with FOMO bitter about a fairly minor unique buff being part of the preorder/DLC.
