Description
It has been centuries since we started to regain our foothold on the surface of the earth. Up to this day, we have strived to establish a flourishing haven, much more than just a shelter to withstand the harsh environment we find ourselves in. It’s a place that provides safety, health care, education and even electricity, but most importantly, it’s a place everybody can call their home. A place to pursue happiness. But even after reaching these important milestones and creating a new and healthy civilization, our people are still curious as to what lies ahead.
Being the pioneers they are, they want to reach out to other survivors and discover new and exciting places beyond the borders of the settlement. They want to uncover the Distant Places, far, far away that so many legends speak of.
Driven by an insatiable quest for knowledge, your explorers can take to the skies onboard their purpose-built hot air balloon and travel to mysterious places far off the map.
Embark on a journey of adventure and discovery far outside the safety of the settlement.
Experience 12 story-driven, large-scaled global expeditions that take you to 4 varied, yet unseen places of the world. Suited for only the most well-equipped adventurers, they offer uncertain but very rewarding outcomes.
Support and expand your settlement with new buildings that can be discovered during the new expeditions.
Have your people experience the unique tastes and merits of 6 all-new exotic seeds like coconuts and bananas.
This amounts to little more than a tiered expansion to the on map expeditions to location but with voiced lines. Some nice reward technologies but overall too pricey for very little gain.
A huge disappointment DLC for an otherwise pretty great core indie title
So first off, i wasn't expecting much from this DLC so when i say its simply reskins some mechanics to add delays for all the basegame problems, it's coming from a low, low bar.
The game itself leans heavily into its political ideals and there's no lasting choice in game that can screw you over when you interact with others. Every bad deal can be fixed with a single trade item gifted next time, and raiders can be bought off and are generally better used to clear out your warehouses then fought.
Hell, you people reproduce and age so quickly, that any of them earn badges or have names is meaningless set dressing.
I thought this expansion would addresss some of that, but no.
Its barely more content to build then the halloween pack, and is entirely missable.
Theres nothing really worth it here, sure you get some concrete buildings, but it just gives you another tier to reach and nothing fancy to do when you get there. Heck, the demands system they add is just the same mechanic with a garunteed "warehouse raid" if you ignore it or fail.
But hey, you're looking after commies, of course they riot when they dont get the luxuries they demand. If only those guard towers could be turned inwards to police bad behaviour.
A cheap delay tactic for end game problems, hell, the new expedetions play out exactly the same as base game ones, except now there is boring characters blabbing while you loot instead of random commie#20 whos going to die of old age before the timer ticks over for the next balloon ride out.
And thats it.
If you really need to know how dissapointing this is, grab it on AT LEAST 50% off.
I found this game on PS5, I enjoyed it so much that when I found it here on GOG I had to buy it for PC!
