Our story begins in one corner of Allraan, a tapestry of nations with diverse cultures and values. By dint of sword, and by way of magical objects known as “rune-lenses,” the land’s history has been shaped by the alliances and aggressions of the humans, beastmen, elves, and desert people who live there.

The Galdean Empire has edged out other nations and discovered a technology that amplifies the rune-lenses’ magic.

Now, the Empire is scouring the continent for an artifact that will expand their power even further. It is on one such expedition that Seign Kesling, a young and gifted imperial officer, and Nowa, a boy from a remote village, meet each other and become friends.

However, a twist of fate will soon drag them into the fires of war, and force them both to reexamine everything they believe to be right and true.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes became the #1 funded Kickstarter video game of 2020 thanks to phenomenal support from the community. 505 Games is truly honored to publish Eiyuden Chronicle and work with Rabbit & Bear to help deliver a memorable gaming experience to fans. Poor localization by forum activist.

Few samples of a bigger mess: https://twitter.com/zakogdo/status/1782340520670527759 I purchased the game on GOG not knowing this till I started playing it, and reading the poor dialog text. This is indefinable period. If this is the last game so be it. The audacity of ruining Murayama's vision infuriate many of us to no end. So at the very least we expect an unofficial fix, and the removal of the localization team names from the game. I have very low expectations for an official fix. It'll be a miracle if it happens. The game itself is good, and very nosthalgic of its predecesors, but the localized dialogs on the other hand... You understand if you're a fan of Murayama's work.

A good game-Very reminicent of RPGS past

There is currently a lot of noise about the localization efforts with this game. And I agree, that piece could use a lot of work. However, the game standing on its own I think delivered what was promised in that it is very much a spiritual successor to the Suikoden game franchise. The duels, the war mechanics, the party system and the recruitable characters are all very nostalgic for those of us who remember and loved the days of Suikoden 1 and 2. I have yet to find anything terribly novel or genre defining in the gameplay, but thats not what I was looking for. I was looking for a JRPG that played and felt similar to previous games that I loved, and I think 505 games accomplished that. The music is solid, the cities are pretty, the base building felt impactful to the overall game, and the combat is well executed and reasonably challenging (particularly if you are playing on hard). This is a perfectly acceptable $40 game. If you are not a stickler for accurate localizations and are looking for a JRPG that helps relive some older times past, I would give this a try. But be prepared for some pretty egregious localization errors that may ruin your immersion.

Mix between suikoden & Breath of fire4.

Simply put I dont own Eiyuden here but I am playing rise, and this game elsewhere, As this game is a Mix between suikoden,And Breath of fire from Capcom as the characters are so similar in artistry.storyline,And game play. But the graphics are the same as suikoden,And the look of buildings are HD as Suikoden 1 and 2 HD are out in march this game filled the void of that same suikoden feeling,But dont forget it has a more stylized feel like Breath of fire 4 as the creatures,And characters have that feel, and style. So dont think your getting suikoden as this game diverges into more updated storylines not the same hero wins and saves his best friend cliche but Suikiden like gameplay gives this game a win with the more up to date war system but lacks on 1on1 battles, but has hope if they continue the series. I give this game 4 out 5 for the one on one battle system lacking any fun. But the sound, And gameplay are a solid 7 out of 10, And the design of levels, puzzles and buildings is 6 out of 10. The actors when talking in cutscenes is like Breath of fire 4. thats what I think if eiyuden chronicles.

Majorly disappointed.

Never did I think that supporting this title through Kickstarter was a bad Idea. Well, I was wrong. This game is rife with performance issues: no or few enemy encounters with a refresh over 60, mouse cursor always on screen, soft locks preventing character acquisition, bad shadow and LOD implementation, etc., etc., etc. The most obvious and glaring thing with this title is the absolutely horrendous localization effort. Characters' personalities are altered from the original presentation, modern politically motivated slurs are injected when there were none, and dialog has been altered where there was no need to do as such. Even the names of the characters are improperly translated due to politics or inclination of politics. The lead character is Noah...Noah...not Nowa. The list just goes on and on. Let's not even get started with all the typos, poor grammar and punctuation, etc. This game had the potential to be the next big RPG. It has failed due to the atrocious localization and poor performance of Unity Engine, or lack of skill using it. So, either get another title, wait for this one to be fixed, or simply forget about it. I would refund, but just because it's a crap title doesn't afford me that right. It performs well enough to keep, but I am sorry I gave 505 my $80 Don't support this nonsense. As for this deluxe edition specifically, you are getting ripped off a bit. The exclusive wallpapers are simply a code that takes you to a website anyone can enter and download the wallpapers. so, why pay for something anyone can get for free?

Classic JRPG Vibes Done Right

This game evokes that classic 90s/early 00s JRPG feel, that golden age of JRPGs feel, it eschews modern "quality of life" features that half the time I wish weren't there anyway. But more specifically, it hits the bullseyes perfectly for a Suikoden love letter, and more than that it easily sits among the top 3 Suikoden titles if you count it as one, which is a testament to the passion and heart of the team putting it together. This game is phenomenal, and even where it is "imperfect" I feel it is so close to perfection that if I could give it a 4.5/5, I would, but since I can only give whole numbers on here, it's gotta be a 5/5 because there is no world in which 4/5 makes sense to me as a review score for this game. The people whinging about the translation obviously don't remember 90s JRPG translations lol this is not unlike the wonky translations we sometimes got back in the day (but markedly better IMHO) and frankly? The examples on twitter are almost all absolutely nothing translation issues (I recommend watching youtuber Davidvinc's breakdown of the translation side-by-sides to see how nothing they really are lol) and is it a perfect translation? No. Is the large-scale war implemented as good as it could be? No. There are a few quibbles you could have with this game, but the overall overwhelming quality of this game makes the ratings under 4 stars look, frankly, cringe and embarrassing. Anyone who has beaten this game will tell you that giving a single star to this game shows you know nothing about JRPGs at all. Enjoy yourselves, Suikoden fans and classic JRPG fans. We haven't eaten this good in a LONG time.
