Description
Cook, Serve, Delicious is a hardcore restaurant sim, one of the few in its genre that gives the players total control over where they want to take their restaurant. The game centers on an old, worn down restaurant in the SherriSoda Tower, which was once the heart of the building but closed down as business (and tenants) dropped to an all time low. But with the local economy rising back up and occupancy reaching its maximum, SherriSoda Tower has decided to bring back the old Cook, Serve, Delicious restaurant, and has given you complete control to bring it back to its old five star status of world class dining.

To do that, you’ll start with a few thousand dollars and thirty foods to choose from to put on your menu, as well as a host of restaurant equipment and more. Nearly everything is unlocked from the start of the game for you to purchase; this is your restaurant, and you must figure out the best strategy to get that restaurant packed with satisfied customers. Can you prove your culinary skills?

And if that weren’t enough, you’ll also have the opportunity to be cast in the Iron Cook television show, throw parties for offices in SherriSoda Tower, read virtual mail in your SherriSoda Tower Email account which ranges from game tips to crazy spam (nearly 500 emails in all), from customers providing feedback to your restaurant to opportunities such as being able to fund projects via “ClicknStart” and other big surprises!

With hours of content and tons of secrets and unlockables, Cook, Serve, Delicious will provide a big challenge for anyone who’s ready to take their crumbling, rat infested eatery to a luxurious Platinum Star Restaurant. Good luck!

(This special GOG release includes the Battle Kitchen Expansion Pack, never before available in a DRMfree format! This expansion adds local co-op, a whole new campaign with dozens of new levels and challenges, tons of additional features and improvements, and lots more!)

A real treasure!

While it's easier to play this game with both hands on the keyboard, that's not an option for me for health reasons so I was worried I wouldn't be able to play this game at all, but it turns out that you can do quite well with one hand on the keyboard and the other on the mouse. You can customize your menu every day, and there are both complicated and easy choices to pick between, so you can set your daily menu to fit your skill level by making sure you don't add more complicated dishes than you can handle :) Artwork is really pretty and the food looks delicious! The music is energizing and adds to the fun, and the sound effects fit perfectly! There's clear info for everything all through the game so you can easily understand the choices you make, and can plan ahead. Everything is very easy to understand and the game will let you practice both chores and cooking when you want, and you can try cooking the dishes before (and after) buying them so you can see how easy/difficult they are. As the game progresses and becomes harder you will be able to buy extras for your restaurant that will make things easier for you, like things that will make your customers stay longer and give you more time to take their orders, and a dishwasher and garbage service to help you with your chores. You will also be able to upgrade your food, some will get more ingredients and recipes while others will become higher quality so you'll earn more money selling them. You will also get more prep stations so you can serve more customers. All in all a very fun game that I'm going to spend quite a lot of time playing!

Decent Time Wasting/Typing Game

It definitely seems like a mobile game given its premise and the various design elements. However, this is very much not a mobile game. Yes, Cook Serve Delicious (CSD from this point onwards) does have mobile ports, they are VERY differently from the PC version available here. On mobile, you swipe and press, as you would expect on a touchscreen. Here, you have to press a variety of different keys. CSD on the PC, therefore, is a semi-repetitive typing game in which you perform a series of (customizable) keystrokes in order to prepare certain dishes. The dishes can range from relatively simple ones with few keys such as fries to much more complex dishes such as kebabs. Each dish can have numerous variations, which breaks up the monotony, and there are also chores such as washing dishes and even foiling robberies to keep things at least somewhat interesting. The game also has a good sense of progression in its main story mode. You start off with a humble restaurant that barely looks better than a street stall. Eventually, you upgrade the restaurant to an (impossibly) elegant six star restaurant. Along the way, you'll accumulate upgrades, purchase new dishes to prepare in your restaurant, go on dates, deal with cooking bets, and a number of other activities, although inexplicably, you are always the only person who works in your restaurant. The main game itself isn't too terribly challenging, but there are definitely things to try once you're done with the main game. For instance, there's an extreme mode in which orders fly in ridiculously quickly, which is a welcome challenge to fast typers like me. There's also the Battle Kitchen mode, which allows you to participate in a variety of challenges and, assuming it's like the steam version, upload your scores to a leaderboard and unlock new portraits. I'm running out of space, so I'll just point out that CSD is a good game. It will and does get repetitive at times, but can be addictive nonetheless.

Pretty much the best typing game ever.

A very straightforward game at its core, CSD is a genuine stroke of mechanical and aesthetic genius. The actual gameplay is essentially a series of quickfire QTE's over the course of a ~10 minute day wherein you are apparently the lone employee of a restaurant, trying to keep up with all the orders and chores as they flow in. Every step of every order is typically one or two keypresses, so it's a great way to practice your touch typing and have fun doing so. (Not much of a typing tutor, but good for someone who's already intermediate level.) This is all accompanied by fairly static but charming graphics, a catchy soundtrack, and an amazingly cathartic suite of plops, sizzles, chops, and slaps as you prepare the food. Between days, you use your funds to buy and upgrade equipment and foods -- chores become easier, but food becomes harder, gaining more complicated and variable recipes, and earns you more in return. You can select your menu for the coming day, which involves managing basic detractors like negative buzz for too many fatty foods, or serving certain foods too many days in a row. The difficulty curve comes from the food upgrades and prestigeing your restaurant to higher star ratings where you'll deal with progressively more customers at once. (This is part of why I'm not as big a fan of the sequel, but that's neither here nor there.) If I could level one complaint against the game, it's that the real challenge takes too long to kick in. Once you have a hang of things, you still have to spend 20 days serving before you can get your first star upgrade and start having to worry about juggling more than 4 people at once. That can be enough to bore someone of the game before they've seen even half of how crazy it can get. I would still absolutely recommend it, but where to get it from depends on your preferences: If you want achievements, get it from here. If you want the Android version bundled with the PC version, get it from the Humble Store.

It's not you (the game), it's me

This game is pretty good, it gave us either mouse control or keyboard control and let us bind the keys if we felt that it doesn't fit our playstyle. I actually having fun playing this game since this game is easy to mold into our playstyle so much. You ended up with tapping keyboards pretty fast. BUT My personal problem with this game, is the panic moments during rush hours. This is maybe the game that gave me good perspective of how it feels working as a wagey under an asshole manager that refuse to employ extra worker to help me out. So here I am trying to wash the dishes as fast as I can but 4 customers left because no one tending the cashier and fryer. I want to strangle that customer who ordered a large cup of WATER (No wonder most fast foods are providing self service drink). I was too panicked to see the orders are and running out of time to notice that my fried chicken was overcooked. AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CAN YOU JUST FLUSH THAT FURSHLUGGINER TOILET!? it's not that hard just push that one button and leave with your decency intact. So yeah, 4 out 5 stars. Love this game, I'm just an idiot.

You feel like a hardcore chef!

1. This game is brilliant, challenging than it looks, and needs a lot of focus in multitasking. 2. If you love playing something fast and sharping your brain's cognitive, this game is definitely you should play. 3. It feels better if you play with the keyboard rather than clicking the mouse, you can play much faster and raise your limit. 4. A lot of upgrades, customize your foods menu correctly can boost your popularity. 5. Other than that, it's a simple game (memorize, click, serve, repeat), if you love food and restaurant game you should immediately buy it! worth every penny!
