Gem from my youth

Ok, look... I see the screenshots the same as you. I know by today's standards, this is kinda janky. However, I played this game in middle school and have such a fondness for it, I had to leap on reviewing it. The story is inventive and the setting is really interesting. The puzzles are generally in a sweet spot of making sense without devolving into the gratuitous moon logic some adventure games spiraled into during that genre's downfall in the 90s (with an exception that's explicitly on purpose and is signposted in-game due to that pocket universe being explicitly nonsensical. I promise it makes more sense in-game, but it might be the more annoying world. Think Alice in Wonderland or Animaniacs levels of "physics doesn't exactly work here, just go with it"). I'm getting ahead of myself. The general premise is that there are those in the distant future who can create "pocket universes". These function as a sort of parallel universe with a setting, occupants, and even rules of physics that are all designed by their creator. They can be very earthlike or very... not. Several of these have been thrown into stasis, freezing their entire universe and their inhabitants in time. You need to enter them and un-freeze them by interacting with each universe's McGuffin that acts as it's main control center. In addition to the standard point-and-click affair of picking up random stuff and combining it or applying it to the world in some way, you also have your multitool that is shaped by the physics of the world. However, the marquee is Bottled Time. It's what allows you to move freely in a universe stuck in stasis (as well as anyone/thing you stand directly beside), but it also allows you to unfreeze items at a distance if you toss a ball of the stuff at the object. This leads to some interesting puzzle solving opportunities. Just don't run out... or walk under a falling rock.

Hidden gem

Wow, Chronomaster. Let me tell you about about this game, because you probably haven’t heard of it. This is one of the final works of famed novelist Roger Zelazny, winner of many literary prizes and famous for “The Chronicles of Amber” series. The story revolves around agents that deal with time-related problems in the universe, and the dialogue is really good. The world is conceptualized really well and feels rather fresh. In terms of gameplay, it’s not very good, attempting to mix classic point-and-click with some action elements, but it’s playable enough. If you like to discover hidden gems of gaming, make sure to have a look at this one!

Fun characters and otherworldly feel

Maybe the experience is colored by some nostalgia, but the writing in this game is great. I get approximately the same vibe from the writing in this game that I got from Beneath a Steel Sky: wacky with a dash of somber truth. The graphics were about average for the time, But they still do a fine job of conveying the feeling of being somewhere strange. If you like a game that makes you feel a little bit out of your element, if you like feeling a little bit off-kilter, this game does it.

Great Adventure Game

I remember picking this up at EB Games in the 'discount section' for a sleepover. It was so good that we extended the sleepover another night so we could beat it and explore every possible option. I also remember nearly throwing up since we each got a bulk box of Airheads that kept us on a sugar high for the weekend. Anyway, I've played this various times in DosBox using the original media, so I'm sure this will be a great experience via GOG. This version launched with no issues and full sound and video.

Been waiting for years!

It was sad ages ago when my computer was too fast to play this game and for years I searched for a way to play it again. For a long time I waited for GoG to publish and now it has! Thank You! and to those who have not played before, please enjoy :) it is a great point and click adventure just when voice acting in games was a new thing.
