Description
BIOMUTANT® is an open-world, post-apocalyptic Kung-Fu fable RPG, with a unique martial arts styled combat system allowing you to mix melee, shooting and mutant ability action.

A plague is ruining the land and the Tree-of-Life is bleeding death from its roots. The Tribes stand divided. Explore a world in turmoil and define its fate – will you be its saviour or lead it to an even darker destiny?

Key Features:
  • A NEW TAKE ON 3rd PERSON COMBAT
The martial arts style combat system allows you maximum freedom of movement and agility while mixing shooting, melee and powers from your mutations. Learning new Wung-Fu combat forms through progression and learning from masters you’ll meet, will constantly add to your choices and make sure combat never gets old.

  • EVOLVE YOUR GAME-PLAY
You’ll be able to re-code your genetic structure to change the way you look and play. This will of course affect your attributes and in addition to this, exposure to bio-contamination in the world will lead to mutations like the Turtleform and Mucus Bubble, while exposure to radioactivity found in bunkers from the old world will affect your mind and unlock psi-mutations like telekinesis, levitation and more.

  • NEXT LEVEL OF CRAFTING
You are totally free when crafting weapons. Mix and match parts to create your own unique 1H or 2H slash and crush weapons. Revolvers, rifles and shotguns and add modifications like cork-screws and battery-powered chainsaw modules to bio-contaminated sludge vials adding to your combat arsenal. There are even characters you’ll meet that’ll craft cool stuff for you, like bionic wings, a jump-pack and even let you modify your Automaton - the scrap-toy sidekick!

  • GEAR UP FOR ADVENTURE
You are totally free when equipping your character. Not only when it comes to choosing weapons you created, but what type of gear you wear. Equip a gas-mask and an oxygen tank for exploring the Dead Zones, thermos-resistant clothes for venturing into cryonic areas or protective gear for taking on bio-contaminated creatures, the choice is up to you.

  • SURVIVE IN A VIBRANT OPEN WORLD
You are free to explore the world and what lies beneath its surface, by foot, mech, jet-ski, air-balloon or area unique mounts. Explore the dying wildland, the tunnels and bunker networks of the underworld, and find your way up the mountains or out in the archipelago. There are lots of discoveries to be made, mysteries to unravel, creatures to confront and weird characters to meet in this vibrant and colorful world.

  • AN UNUSUAL STORY WITH AN UNUSUAL END
Your actions play a major part in the unfolding of a story where End is coming to the New World. A plague is ruining the land and the Tree-of-Life is bleeding death from its roots. The Tribes stand divided, in need of someone strong enough to unite them or bring them all down...
You are guided through the world by a Storyteller that narrates every step of your journey, but it’s your actions and choices that’ll decide how your story of survival ends.

ROUGH opening hours, but it gets better

Biomutant has one of the most tedious, and uninviting opening sections I've played in recent memory. At an hour in, I was ready to turn it off. It feels almost as a bad as a MMO tutorial at times. However, the graphics, music, and world were just charming enough to keep me going, and I'm glad I did. Once the game opens up, and you're free to craft weapons, fight battles without the intrusive tutorial, or be stopped ever 30 seconds and have the camera ripped away from you control, the game actually becomes OK. Not great, but OK. I've put just under 8 hours in now, and here are my initial impressions. - The K+M controls are pretty bad. It never felt like Biomutant was intended to be played on anything other than a controller. I've tested the game with my Xbox 360 pad, and Dual Shock 4, and both work as intended. It feels considerably better to play with a controller. - The combat is slippery, and for the most part anemic. As cool as the custom crafted weapons are to look at, none of them feel especially good to use. Even the "heavy" weapons that appear to have some weight and momentum to swings still feel underwhelming due to the poor audio and feedback. - The music is nice, albeit poorly implemented. I like the music, but when you enter a city, for example, the way the tracks are mixed is distracting and amateur. - The game runs great for me on my old GTX 970. I get occasional frame drops on MAX, but this HUGE open world doesn't chug even on my older hardware. - The character creator is really cool. Classes feel distinct. - Crafting is satisfying, both visually and systemically. - The story seems fairly basic, but the different clans are neat. Seems like Ottomans vs Japanese? - The presentation is a mixed bag. The narration is fine, but there's WAY too much of it. - There is a lot of heart poured into this game, but it still suffers from undercooked gameplay, and can be boring. I SUGGEST WAITING FOR SOME UPDATES AND A SALE.

Ignore the press, enjoy the game!

While I understand I have heard many people have their take on the game, and many based their opinions off of journalists. I have also heard more praise or positivity from people who just played the game overall. So in this instance, its solid game play wise, some of elements like story, and dialog is a inspiration simulator. Which all isn't bad, if you love exploring, finding loot, and bashing mutant animal people then its like a blast from the past from the PS2 era days, with a modern twist, and some addicting combat.

A game made by devs with heart

This game is just lovely. It reminds me of the good old games (no pun intended). It reminds me of the time back when playing Fable 1, having an awesome simple adventure, no hundreds of symbols on the map. What impresses me the most is that there are no bugs that stopped me from playing or any bugs at all till that point, sorry, but looking at you CP. The 60€ price tag is a tad bit too much, I'd put the game at 40-50€, but when the publisher decides to be greedy, there is nothing to do about it.

A fantastic game with some flaws!

Well, if you're looking for a deep RPG with a great story and good dialogues, then this game might not be for you. But if you are looking for a great action RPG-lite then this one is perfect! Biomutant was made by a relatively small group of developers and they've put so much love into this game. It's one of those openworld games that makes you want to explore every last inch of the map. You're trying to finish the next quest but on your way there you get distracted by another cool place to explore and this will happen all the time! Haters said that this game's world is empty, right? No, it's not! It offers so many unique places to explore and stuff to do. It's not empty or boring in the slightest. I'll admit that some places like the bases are a bit copy & paste, yes, but for the world outside, everything looks distinct and very beautiful. I kept hammering on the screenshot button all the time. The combat is fun and the wung fu adds a lot of variety to enemy encounters. Once you've found out how crafting works (it's not too hard) you can create weapons and modify armor with the best parts you've found on your journey. You will find a lot of gear along your way through this game. Items you don't need can be scrapped or sold, I prefer the first option because you will need raw materials for crafting and upgrading your stuff. Some more Pros: + Manual saving almost all the time (except during combat, climbing or cutscenes). The save system works like a savestate (like in Fallout 4, The Witcher 3, etc) + The localization, at least the german one, is brilliant. The voice acting is great as well! + You will unlock a lot of special abilities! + Good customizable controls (Mouse + keyboard controls work fine)! And you can dodge, double jump and walljump! Some Cons: - The storytelling and dialogues are not that great. It's more an action-exploration game than an RPG. - There a some minor glitches but nothing game-breaking. This game gets a 4.6 stars from me!

Great game

So first of all im really happy that i have ignored the press reviews. This game got soul and you can truly see that the devs put a lot of effort into the game. It’s a true open world and basically your own adventure kinda game. There are some basic ubisoft mechanics like the world map with quest markers but overall it has its own dna. There are dozens of crafting options a lot of loot and a lot of tools/weapons to use and find. The story is pretty basic you can be either bad or good but overall it’s a fun game with a lot of variety in skills and the character creation is also great so i definetly recommmend the game on a side note if you get annoyed with the narrator you can turn him off.
