Description
In the ruins of the fallen Adal Empire, you awaken with a mysterious mask on your face, and faint recollections of an esoteric ceremony. Freeing you from hunger, thirst, and even death, the mask is the creation of the Guides, the rulers of these lands, who have placed you here to determine whether you are worthy of becoming part of the elite corps of Absolvers. As you wander these forsaken lands, encountering other Prospects like you, you will learn new combat styles, acquire weapons, gear and armor, and build a team of warriors with whom to fight side by side in Arenas of combat.

Fluid Real-Time Combat: Position yourself in one of four tactical stances during real-time battles and execute devastating attacks, dodges, and parries. Movement becomes your weapon as you engage in solo duels or intense three-on-three melees battles.

Customizable Style and Flow: Players will define their character’s playstyle by picking a combat style, a weapon of choice, and arranging attacks in their Combat Deck to design their unique and personal attack flow.

Online Multiplayer Action and Narrative: Prospects and Absolvers will seamlessly encounter others in the world, generating unique stories that emerge through player interaction and choices. These moments are filled with tension as intentions to battle or befriend are never clear: trust is always a leap of faith. Encounters will have lasting consequences and transform into meaningful relationships as you make friends or enemies and find mentors or disciples.

Offline Single-Player Experience Available: Journey on an adventure that will take you from Prospect to Absolver in an exciting campaign, available both online and offline. The single-player mode pits you, and you alone, against lost Prospects and legendary warriors in the ruins of the Adal empire - complete with all content, free of interactions and encounters with other players.

PvP and PvE: Explore a rich and dynamic world including dedicated PvP battle arenas where champions will receive spoils of victory and progress in the ranks of the Absolvers, and PvE areas in which players cooperatively battle to retrieve rare loot and equipment from the ruins of Adal.

ABSOLVER CONTENT UPDATES
The development team at Sloclap is dedicated to improving and expanding Absolver based on community feedback once the game is live. In the coming weeks and months, Prospects can expect regular updates to the game to fix any issues that appear, as well as both minor and major content updates. These updates already include 3v3 Game Mode and a Spectator Mode soon after launch, but many more updates can be expected, from new combat styles and moves to new powers and equipment.

Please note:
Absolver features public crossplay matches which you can play with your friends regardless where the game was purchased (PC only).
Multiplayer Notice: Please note that GOG GALAXY is required to access Multiplayer. Some fighting techniques and boss fight rematches must be one-time unlocked in online mode. Once unlocked, they carry over to the single player game."

PVE Experience locked uner PVP grind

I knew this game had a very short game campaing/PVE experience, and I knew that the main focus of the game was to challenge other players, but the PVE content such as rematch bosses and loot is locked over extensive PVP grind. - In order to be able to rematch the first boss, you are forced to reach lv 10 in the trials mode, where you fight other players. In order to rematch the same boss a third time, again, you need to level up under the PVP mode, and so on for each boss; - You can't level up under the NPC schools by beating npc, again, you are forced to grind PVP fights. - Bosses loots are locked under bosses rematches, which are locked behind PVP (as I said previously). Same goes for some loot received when getting levels in the trials PVP mode. These choices are unjustified in any case, even more so since they advertised offline play, and even dared to sell their product on GOG. While I'm fine with galaxy dependent online, I'm not to in-game content locked behind it. Unless the devs chance the way the PVE and advanced loot works, I can't recommend the game to anyone not interested in the PVP in the slightest. Heck, Even Dark Souls games had nearly everything obtainable through offline play even if the coventants were focused on PVP, yet you could unlock the same content under different means.

Low content, server problems

The content is not really high. Its more an try and error concept. You must fight a lot to become better. In 1vs1 there is no balance Lvl 15 fight vs lvl 30. But normal a lvl 30 have more combatskills and values a lot of time a low level runs behind you and try to kill you in the "open world" but when you dont wanna fight you cant run away. Later in level comes a barrier and stops you... lost time to fight with them. Server dont running good. in steam there are more then one thread with dev post and gamer who have problems. Today i have 3 1vs 1 fights. 1 disconnect, 1 crash and 1 unlimitied loading.... only Contol alt delete helps here... Annoying because onefight was 7-10 minutes long. We both had the same skilllevel... it was amazing and then... disconnect... arghs.

Cannot recommend

I've had fun with this game, but I can't recommend purchasing it unless you're a hardcore fighting game fan. It has a great skeleton on which to build a great game, but it's not there yet. Their next updates are also focusing on improving the game specifically for the top 1% players; it's all end-game and high level stuff. It's a shame that adding more world for the rest of us is so low on their priority list because what little they've created is so damn beautiful. Though I can't get behind buying it, I think it's worth keeping an eye for future purchase.

Distinctly Lacking

If you came to build your own fighting style, it won't work. Currently a tier list of moves is already forming. If you do not have any of these moves, your combat deck is already subpar. Currently, the best decks are comprised mostly of kicks because they are far more powerful and versatile than punches. Kicks have range, sweeps (side attacks to hit people dodging), special avoid properties, and even speed. Punches are relegated to more of a supporting role, with a lot of them being obsolete, good for nothing but pure speed. Almost all punches only aim at the torso and come straight, making them easy to avoid. Fighting can also be a pain with the severe amount of lag this game has. Players will teleport around, attacks will hit that seemed they missed, and often you will find your attacks phasing through other players. Considering that this game is mostly PvP, this is quite noticable. The simple act of having other players in the same session even causes the NPCs to lag. Speaking of NPCs, they are either complete chumps, or world class champs. There is no in-between. High level NPCs seem to read your inputs, enabling them to pull off maneuvers such as dodging your first hit, or countering you perfectly. Usually, this can be handled in a one on one fight. However, one on one fights are rare. Often, you fight a group of enemies at the same time. When fighting high level NPCs this is nigh impossible alone. While you focus on one, the others will move in and begin attacking, all while the one you are focusing dodges or blocks your attacks. If you try to attack them all at the same time you will simply eat their combined attacks. This leaves one tactic, poke and dodge. You get in a punch or two, then quickly retreat. This ensures victory, but is incredibly boring. Ultimately, I have tried this game and found it wanting. I can't enjoy the PvP with the lag and metadecks, yet I can't enjoy PvE because it is basically nonexistent. This game is not worth the current price.

PvE content locked behind PvP

You need to grind on online PvP in order to unlock PvE content, such as bosses rematches and items.
