Description
In  Wetrix  the player must build barriers on the arena to stop the water from leaking out. As time progresses, rain starts to fall onto the arena, so the player must try to keep the walls as high as possible to catch the water. Too much on the screen will start an earthquake. Ice blocks fall to freeze the water. Bombs drop, leaving holes in walls, and fireballs vaporize the water. The aim is to get as high a score as possible. There is a practice mode available, and the game can be played in multiplayer against a friend.

Works great, plays great

This is the classic Tetris-like game from the N64 era 'Wetrix' -- running in Dosbox. Works great on a modern machine, and even looks solid in 'fullscreen' mode on a 4k monitor. No special enhancements as far as I know. This is the original game, and seemingly here is GoG is the only way to legally obtain it these days. Doesn't seem to have controller support, but the mouse support is a fair substitute for the N64 controllers I played this game on back in the day. If this was on your radar because you remember it fondly from back in the day, this is a solid way to play it.

Doesnt play nice on modern systems

Wetrix is a wonderful game, the first time i played i found it incomprehensible but now i cant put it down. You make pools of water, and you evaporate them to score. if too much water spills over the edges you lose, you can build walls to create resevoirs but bombs drop to destroy them, build too many walls and you also lose. its an addictive juggling act of building up and then tearing down all while trying not to spill a drop. Unfortunately the version available on GOG currently could use some work, the highest res is 640x480, 4:3. There is an option to run fullscreen but i occasionally get flickering in full screen not to mention the frame rate seems significantly worse in full screen. Hoping that Wetrix shall join the preservation program but not holding my breath.
