A lot of fun

I really enjoyed playing this game. Not only were there a lot of different races to choose from, the races were not repetitive; each one had a very unique style to it, and the strategy used for each had to be different as well. Combine that with the huge amount of character classes available for the heroes, and the number of unique gaming experiences seems almost limitless. My only negative, and I'm not sure if there is anything that could be done about it, is that the story is very simple.

A great surprise

This game was a big "whoa" from the start. If you look at the screenshots it looks like an outdated 90's game. The engine certainly feels so but once you start playing it you discover its genius. It's a classic RTS with RPG elements (you also have a hero on the battlefield) but with greatly improved gameplay. There are tons of races to choose from, a LOT of possible professions for your hero and hundreds of missions spread across a very big map. Lots of races means lots of units. The game has a huge variety of monsters and spells and the replay value of it is amazing. And speaking of gameplay the AI script was very advanced allowing many complex and different types of behavior. The campaign become repetitive and the heroes a bit overpowered at the end but other than that, I recommend this game to every RTS enthusiast.

Unique and Fun To Play

This is one of the more unique RTS games out there with an amazing amount of content and complexity. It's certainly worth anyone's time and money, though it might not be the most polished game out there. It's also more focused on single player, so the fact that it's old should not be an issue. The game is centered around creating a persistent hero which gains levels and transfers between battles, increasing in strength, expanding their retinue and acquiring new artifacts and abilities. It offers a lot of replayability.

Great Game Broken multiplayer

i loved this game when it came out. however now that i and a few friends have bought it again, the multiplayer just simply doesnt work. we have researched high and low adjusted ports and tried out mods... and it simply does NOT work. so single player game is fine but unless u live in an igloo with no internet dont think you can play multiplayer.

don't work on some OS platforms

This game doesn't seem to work on windows 7 64 bit systems. I don't think they bothered testing the game to see if it plays because it crashes on the campaign. If you are reading this review it may have been too late. As for the game itself, it is as good as Warcraft because instead of a hero you get a superhero in a RTS.
