Space Marine: Modstered Editon.

Not a remaster, just a re-released, modded version. Call it for what it is and don't be afraid to do so. Played the 360, PS3 and PC on 780/3570k and 12800Hx/3070ti and this version on a 4090, 9800X3D. Repackaged under a new name just to charge another £35. I have spent the dosh so you don't have to. If it dropped so much off % wise to the OG owners, then it would be a bitter pill people could swallow and a 3/5 easy. Buy the original choo-choo from a key site; you are not missing anything special bar the multiplayer, which will eventually fade in my opinion to another dead online game. I reviewed The Thing and will do the same for this; remasters being released are just modded base PC versions with the old issues and some engine tweaks with a slap of new paint texture-wise. Yes, it looks nice, but it feels more like a free patch than a full release. Can still cheese the campaign… Hard feels like it's normal. The only time I struggled was when I got a black screen with the crosshair still showing, and after a minute Titus would insta-death and be thrown back to the checkpoint; this can happen a few times in a row and really P you off. -never encountered that in the OG. Executions are still long-winded, so don't go looking for chain kills unless you do the foot stomp; then you might be lucky enough to get two in succession. A.I. is still brain dead and melee battles are health drainers; just hang back and pick enemies off and leave one or two for health farming if needed. You can still aim behind cover and shoot through cover, as the aim is tied to the main crosshair. The game features a dynamic HUD, but it lacks a dynamic crosshair, resulting in a constant presence of the crosshair which pulls you form the game. Weapon wheel is tied to the greande LB... So, you will end up lobbing grenades when you want to instant change weapons, OG had it on the directional pad, major step back. "Pure nostalgia bait at best." State of gaming. I love this game, but not this...

A low effort remaster

*Note, played on game pass* I have played the original game a lot on the 360 when it came out, and I've played the steam version (original and anniversary) a fair bit too. Ignoring the review, Space marine is a good 3rd person shooter with somewhat simple combo melee combat. I do have issues with this release though. When compared to the anniversary version, there is little different to be honest. The new textures have the look of a simple AI sharpening filter, there's a new interface that, subjectively, looks and feels worse, the models don't really look any different from a poly count perspective and the audio has been tweaked, resulting in much worse sound effects for things like bolters. The control changes to me feel worse and are largely pointless as the anniversary version has full remapping options. The rest of the game is just the same as the anniversary one. I don't think the level of work done is worthy of a new release, especially at this asking price, it could easily have been done in the anniversary version as an update. The anniversary version isn't even that old, it came out only a few years ago. This kind of reeks of low effort and cash grab by Sega. I'll personally stick with the anniversary version, though it's a shame that isn't available on GOG, though knowing Sega, they'll likely de-list the old versions effectively forcing a price hike for the game. If you're only looking to buy it on GOG, I guess this one has working multiplayer as the anniversary version isn't available, though the pool of players will likely be small. It will split the player base somewhat as well, resulting in both games having fewer players. I believe that, as far as cross-play support between pc and console, that is limited to the xbox app for pc. Take a shot for every time I say "anniversary" I guess.

Blatantly unfinished and broken online

If you were think of getting this for the multiplayer, DO NOT BUY Multiplayer matchmaking is broken, crossplay is off by default and because of that; many people won't turn it on which makes finding a match impossible on GOG copies. Even with crossplay on, I only find matches with 2 people in a server. Even if you manage to find a game, it still has the same lag and unresponsiveness of the 2011 original with terrible latency, (you still take damage after you go around a corner, things like that) Controller bindings were said to be more modern but they are worse than the original (why the hell is LB both switch weapon and grenade, utterly stupid) with no way to switch to the original controls. Pressing down on the d-pad brings up the scoreboard in the menu durring multiplayer matches for some reason, instead of navigating the menu. That being said, the campaign is mostly fine from what I played, I think the new orks look better. But this poor launch will probably damage whatever momentum that the online multiplayer would have had.

Manque d'optimisation

Pour le moment, le jeu est d'abord trop cher à mon sens, et sans réduction malgré le fait de posséder la version classique. Le problème c'est le manque d'optimisation, pas côté ressources PC exigé, mais bugs. Le jeu accuse des sauts d'images réguliers, lors des déplacements du personnage et ou mouvements de caméra, comme si on regardait un film et que régulièrement, on supprimait une demi seconde du film pour le raccourcir, c'est assez bizarre, ce n'est même pas un freeze, c'est la première fois que je vois ça. Le plus gros soucis, ce sont les écrans noirs du jeu, une première pour moi là encore. Pour ce bug, le jeu continue de fonctionner, le curseur de tir est visible, le son fonctionne, on peut se déplacer, et tout le reste est noir, sans image, parfois plusieurs fois en quelques minutes, et il faut alors quitter la partie et recharger la dernière sauvegarde, et ça recommence après quelques minutes. Je fais (encore et encore comme tant de fois ces dernières années) une demande de remboursement pour un jeu non finalisé, puisque c'est devenu une mode. Moi je fais des économies c'est pas grave. J'espère qu'un jour, les plateformes de distributions comme GOG exigeront des jeux terminés et contrôlés avant la mise en vente, et une pénalité payante pour les développeurs et éditeurs de jeux vidéo, tout ceci à déjà trop duré, avec une augmentation du prix de vente des jeux de 60€ à 80€ qui s'installe, ça suffit. Pour ce que j'ai testé du solo uniquement, c'est un remaster paresseux, un petit lifting visuel sympathique, un peu ce que le jeu aurait du déjà être à sa sortie en 2011, et l'anticrénelage est toujours très décevant, ainsi que certaines textures toujours aussi laides et non retravaillées, sans parler des effets de flammes/feu absolument ridicules. Une déception. Attendre une baisse de prix significative et des correctifs (s'il y a) est à mon avis le plus sage pour le moment.

worst ReMaster ever !!!

lazy remaster ... at best. scam ... at worst. other than a lazy HD texture pack I can't see any differences, and to add insult to injury, I've got major technical issues (random 4 to 5 seconds freezes every minute or so) ... so it's basically unplayable in this current state -_- Don't buy !
