nice gungame, but that's all it offers
The game is good if you want a nice Doom clone centered around 40k, but that's all.

Solid and fun if you like warhammer 40k
I am a big fan of Warhammer 40 000 universe and lore so I deeply enjoyed playing this game but for a person not knowing what the hell is happening out there, Boltgun may be not the best choice. Pros: - Warhammer 40K aesthetics is where the game truly shines - I like every detail and appeciate getting to fight as a SON OF ULTRAMAR - Good old DOOM-like shooter, run and shoot, nothing more - Enemies die blasted and ripped to pieces with a lot of blood - very satisfying - Sound of guns is awesome - Design of bosses is awesome Cons: - Many of the enemies are just bullet sponges who can take a lot of punishments before finally dying - There aren't many enemy types, after the first campaign you will probably see nothing new - Bosses are very tough, but that's fine. What is more annoying is that they repeat constantly - there are 3 bosses in the game and you will have to fight them over and over again until the end. If you take out WH40K from the shooter you will get an average boomer shooter with spongy enemies and repetitive bosses, maybe in this case Prodeus will be a better take. But if you are a fan of the grim dark universe with neverending war - this is the game you will like, almost sure.

Good ol' Fun
Move through many different environments and face down hordes of enemy you have to purge area by area while collecting weapons that feel great and plenty of loot that jingle jangle in your pocket. The controls are tight and the graphics - if you like sprites - are beautiful. The music and sound effects get your blood pumping. A great game all around marred by a bit of repetiveness when you're locked in areas with excessive amounts of bullet sponge enemies. Overall a great way to rip and tear, especially if on sale.

Awesome shooter
It's addictive, unfortunately it lacks of co-op multiplayer. I've recommended this game to a friend and I'm excited that a sequel was announced for 2026 !! We need more WK40 FPS like this one.
