Still holds up very well
For those who weren't around or don't remember, Redemption was originally a brilliant game with massive potential that was badly hurt by two major (but very easily fixable) design flaws: the player couldn't save anywhere and there was no pause feature (big no-no for a party based game of its type). Unfortunately by the time patch 1.1 came out, the damage had already been done, but the developers repaired both of these issues, which made the game much, much better and I'd say it still holds up very well. With the exception of some bad pathfinding and a slightly less enjoyable clickfest experience compared to Diablo 2, the game is actually pretty awesome. The story is very engaging and has some pretty good characters, the visuals were well ahead of their time for the genre, the music is a masterpiece and the party twist on the point and click Diabloesque action RPG differentiates it from other games that came out at the time. I think it has actually aged better than its successor - Bloodlines.

Fun and Vampires
I love this game and have played it many times when it first came out and I even got into the multiplayer at that time, which is unlike anything I've played since, shame no servers are running for that anymore. The music on this game is excellent and I used to have the OST somewhere... This game did win awards for it's music and is also the reason I went on holiday to Prague years ago, that's how much it inspired me (I live in England). Playing through it now makes realise how much I missed this game. However it does make me appreciate the good AI in new games that we have now but don't let that put you off as it's still immensely fun to play even though group AI can be clunky at times. I would recommend this game to any gamer and tell those that are younger and a little less patient to stick it out to the end as it's worth it. I'm really glad I bought this game, thanks GOG for making it available and with all the bonus content. This game would be complete if you could add the OST to the bonus content also.

vampires thru the ages,classic gem
so i bought this game years and years ago cd version. freaking love the vampire masquerade series. which im honestly not sure on what to write as im barely awake, but yes this is an amazing game that takes u from the past to modern times in your fight against the vampires, well not all vampires the evil ones. you will find a nice selection of ranged and melee weapons in this amazing game. there is a varity of vampire clans which as you make your way thru the game you encounter many of them and a handful of the various clans join your group. if i remember correctly each clan has specific powers which will help you to survive and conquer. ^w^ ill edit up my review later but if you love rpgs, and you love vampires this is a classic gem you must try.

A romantic fable
In the way that the World of Darkness table-top game rules has a certain appeal to role-playing gamers who don't really like role-playing games, Redemption is a game that perhaps appeals most to gamers who don't particularly like video-games. Although the game itself is good enough, with it's pausable rpg-mechanics mingled with action-style gameplay, presented quite well with Nihilistic's NOD engine - the appeal of Redemption essentially lies in the story-telling. From the introduction in the manual when it comes to the main protagonist's fanatical personal faith and quest for salvation under the Church in the war against the heathens. That then flows into where the game starts in Prague, and the lead up to Christoph's fall from Grace. And on throughout the ages to the promised redemption (if the player so chooses to seek it). It is all such an artful introduction to the politics and the vampiric clans of the World of Darkness, that Redemption actually stands as perhaps the most interesting entry-point into the World of Darkness that was ever written. Whether it is from the perspective of introducing the fairly modest background of one of the second generation vampires, that would eventually become a supremely powerful being (that is, originally young love-sick Christoph, fallen holy warrior). Or if it is from easing the reader/player into the philosophy that guides the different vampire clans, Redemption is written with a kind of care for it's potential audience that White Wolf never had. Meanwhile, even if the overall story-line is quite linear, it is also worth noting that Nihilistic used the opportunities for interactive story-telling in this game quite well. As there are certain choices you can make throughout the game that essentially is a way to test poor Christoph's sense of morality without the Holy Church's guidance binding him. Overall, a memorable game that every gamer should play. And that every designer of videogames could learn much from.
