Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption

When I first saw the pictures of in game, game play I doubted the game would be good but then as soon as I got a copy later on...The game was amazing! I haven't fully finished it but all I know so far is that your basically this man...and he so looking for a woman that he loves but later on I think the storyline changes the game so far is really...really interesting! Love it and I highly recommend it don't judge because of the pictures only if you've played it.

Greetings to the reader. This was the second game I bought back in 2002 when I could buy my own pc, so It is nostalgic to me. That said the game has a decent plot, and consistent story flow; however it is a bit corny with 17th century chivalry romance. The biggest issue is the point, and click that I found in certain areas location mapping was problematic. On a good note this game incorporates morale choices though cheesy on occasion, or out right silly it is still one of the first games that these choice have a vast impact on your end game. Summary: If you want a game to transport you to a time when games had plot, an on occasion had plot just as this one does then here is your game. However if your used to fast pace tactic strategy do your keyboard a favor, and pass on this one.

On the plus side, "Redemption" is a great game for some meaty vampire story, that much can't be denied. This is, however, no "Bloodlines" by a long shot. And by that I only mean it isn't a all-time great CRPG. The combat and controls aren't in any way horrible, but they are extremely simplistic, to the point that the game is essentially a hack n' slash as far as combat goes (think Diablo meets KOTOR). The role-playing elements have been given alot of leeway in contrast to "Bloodlines" as well. Finally, this game is EXTREMELY linear. All that being said, these aren't really negatives in and of themselves. There is nothing wrong with a straight line romp of any RPG every now and then. The combat and nature of the quest are simply serving the story here. This game isn't particularly challenging and not in the least bit groundbreaking, and it doesn't hold a candle to it's classic sibling, but it is well worth playing at least once.

After 1.5 h of playing I've getting tired of this game. It has a great scenario from the beginning, but they are few things that makes this game a bit irritating: - No auto attack after clicking on enemy - for RPG game with izometric view it's necessary feature, without this I have to mashing a LMB with marking cursor on the enemy or holding a key - No possibility to change a keybinding - and no, spacebar is not pausing a game - During a pause there's no possibility to activate some active skill - it's problematic to healing one character, when the other one gets beating in the same time - I'm not Starcraft pro player This score is low for this game only due to this points, in other case I would giva a 5/5 - any mods that are fixing this behaviour?

I just finished the game in a little over 20 hours, overall I really enjoyed it. Start in the dark ages of Prague and Vienna and end up in modern London and New York. Great atmosphere and interesting story progression, it's a shame it lacks so much polish much like it's successor Bloodlines. I'd recommend installing the latest 3rd party patch to fix the dialogue scenes and some other fixes (just google latest patch it should be an easy install). GOG might have even included the latest patch since this review? You will need to refer to an online guide from time to time as all the stat and skill information was inside the book that came with the game. It's a great game but i give 3/5 stars because the AI is barely functional.
