A surpisingly good game

This puzzle game has very simple mechanics (move up, down, left, right, pull object) but surprisingly emergent gameplay. The game does not bog you down with an annoying hand-holding tutorial that many games have. You get straight into the game from the word go and pick up the game mechanics and interactions from situations in the game and good level design. Puzzles are clever in design and are not too challenging as to cause getting stuck for long. Graphics are good and the physics engine is more than adequate. My only complaint is that there does not appear to be much of a storyline, but hopefully that sorts itself out as the game progresses. I cannot wait to finish this title.

An interesting and enjoyable game.

We have an interesting and enjoyable game here. Graphics are good and physics work as expected. Gameplay works in 2D despite the 3D graphics. The puzzles are generally easy and mostly everyone may finish the game without headache. There's two different endings, which you can see by loading your last save and try the different option. It's not necessary to play the whole game again. I’m not going to give spoilers here! I played the game using the XBOX 360 controller. During play it works fine, but it doesn't work in menus. You have to use your mouse to navigate and start the game. I find two flaws in this game. The first one is its length. It's too short. It took me about five hours until the end. The second is the lack of a plot. Maybe both are expected, but I think you should know that. In conclusion I really enjoy this game. So I’m going to give it five stars, despite it’s flaws.

An amazing experience

And experience is probably the best way to describe it. As smudge17 points out, the controls are very simple (though I recommend using 'e' instead of 'space' if moving top left using the arrow keys whilst dragging isn't possible). In any case, this really reminded me of a pov in a classic Amiga/Atari demo from the early 90s - it is an artistic/physics masterpiece. Gamewise, it caters for exploration (which is not usually my cup of tea), but the puzzles encountered, though not tough, are very fun to play through. Exploring how elements interact without guidance is a great asset to the game in that respect. The soundtrack is one of the better ones I've listened to in a long time - very atmospheric and aptly so. Focusing on the components as I have is unfair in a way though - the game is an experience which may not suit all, but I've no doubt only very few players would be inawed by the overall game.

Great unique puzzle game

This is a good puzzle game with some unique puzzles to solve, the music is excellent and so is the atmosphere. The mechanics of the game are easy to understand and you will soon get the hang of it. The reason I have only given 4 stars is that the game is far too short, I found my self saying out loud "Huh is that it" as the credits came up. Best to buy the game as part of a bundle or when its part of a weekend deal.

An excellent mind bender zen game

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Unmechanical. The simple controls and otherworldly atmosphere made for a very enjoyable game. There were a wide variety of puzzles and while it was easy to work out what one had to do to overcome the challenges there was a good element of skill required to actually achieve the goals. If I was to have any criticism at all it was that the game only lasted a very short time. I wasn't counting but I think it only took me about six hours at the most to complete the game. More chapters would have been wonderful! Sadly, I think this game will also be a once off for me, at least for the foreseeable future, however it was very well done and I am happy to give five stars for what I played.
