Ultima™ 7 The Complete Edition

to a well earned monument Ultima VII is the best Ultima and one of the greatest CRPGs ever made in term of world design and immersion. If it has any fault it is in terms of the combat (can be messy, unrewarding, either too hard or too easy), the stats are there but mostly for show. But the wealth of (strange/magic/funny) loot, exploration, meaningful places, memorable NPCs, gruesome murders, suicides, trials, xenocides, madness, evilness, wittty demons, reproachful companions full of life (of their own),... stories and memories! far make up for it. Thank you GoG, thank you Origin of Old, Lord British. All hail Britannia! (Oh and if you go to Serpent Isle, I think I lost a blink ring somewhere...)

In my opinion this is literally, hands down, the end all be all of video games. That's all I can say. Anyone who enjoys the current age of open world, massively interactive RPGs, owes it to Ultima VII.

Arguably (but not by me) the best of the Ultima series, U7 totally stands up against modern singleplayer RPGs. Maybe not in graphics, but in sheer gameplay, story, depth and scope. Kudos to GoG for bringing us this timeless classic. Where else can you pick up the 10 great games in a series for only 24 bucks?? Hellz yeah. I don't mind U8 and U9 being left out, since they were so buggy they were practically unplayable.

Other games may do it prettier, but Ultima 7 stands still among the greats. It still feels like a world, with people living in it, which is something that games still struggle with today. The word for it is "wonderful."

Ultima 7 is one of the best games ever made. Many argue, it is the best game ever made. It is hard to refute that sentiment. However, the game translates poorly to modern systems, and it is very hard to make out what is on the screen (which often flickers, or flashes by too fast). There is not a likely solution, because of the game's age, so some level of struggle will be required to play the game on today's systems. Younger players will likely not get the magic of this treasure, but older gamers may be able to soldier through the pixels to relive a high-point in gaming history.
