So bad.

Slapping weapons together is fun, I'll give it that. Skill system is alright too... I've put more hours into this game than I care to admit. Aside from the various entertainingly broken item and alchemy systems to screw around with, this game doesn't have much going for it. Bland dungeons, TERRIBLE combat, lame story, oh boy! It's got everything you could ever not want in your RPG. I hear what people say about it being fun despite it's badness, and that might happen for you, but really, there are so many other better open world RPGS out there to spend your time with, and that won't leave you feeling icky afterward. Gothic 2 for starters! It's everything this game wishes it could be! The worst part I find is that nothing in this game matters. You can dodge most attacks, sot he gear you get doesn't much count. Upgrading your weapon only means you kill faster. The game play stays the same the entire time, with the only change being a new pallet of fields to stare at. Sadly, it took me about 30 hours and the obligatory Fire and Brimstone Zone to realize how much of my life I had wasted. If you absolutely must play this game, get it on sale, as I do admit, some of the dialogue can be laugh out loud bad. It's almost as though the main voice actor KNOWS he's in a garbage game and so delivers everything tongue in cheek. It is unfortunate this studio has since folded. They had their hearts in the right place, but that only counts for so much.

Two Worlds Epic Edition

I'm playing the GOG linux version of this. Over many hours I have had 1 (one) glitch, which vanished on reloading, so it's basically working flawlessly. While I haven't finished this ( I might be 1/3 to 1/2 way through now ?) I love this game. I have played *many* rpgs for many hours, and this is among the best I've tried. I love the look of it and the sound of it - both the background effects, the music and the voice work. For some reason, some people have criticised the latter as not being 'professional'. For me (as an actor :) ), it simply sounds real. Before I saw those reviews, I was thinking that it was the *best* voice acting I'd heard :) Yes sometimes the dialog may be a bit odd ... but I love it. It's huge; the number of weapons, armor and misc. random things is huge (and there's pictures for every one); character development allows specialisation in fighting, magic, stealth or any combination. I do suggest you need as much vitality (for HP) as you can get, but otherwise, go for it. The map is huge. You should start on the roads, but remember to venture off them when you are a few levels higher. I also suggest that even fighters need a buddy (ie get a few ranks in at least one magic school) so you can summon something to get in the bad guys way. Limitations - the starting character is fixed as male, and the story premise is 'rescue your sister'. That typed, you can largely ignore this if you want and just explore. I got over this very quickly. :) I have yet to find any alchemy recipes either for sale or elsewhere. This leaves me with experimenting and I'd rather not have to. I would have appreciated an "item type" filter as part of the inventory system. Great things - like all great free form RPGs you can go anywhere any time. You will be handed portions of your anatomy should you venture too far. Great. :) Did I mention it's huge ? :) Hours of fun. Enjoy.

Crashes every minute -- a big scum.

It is hard to evaluate the game, when it is crushing every 30 seconds. It is really hard to play the game longer than a minute. What is interesting it does not start like that. The first hour or two are fine. All the problems start later and they are very persistent. The crushes every minute. It also looses the last saves, so you have to revert to the previous saves. I spent many hours trying to make it work. I installed this game on four different computers. Two of them running Windows 10, one running Windows 7 and one running macOS Catalina. All of them experienced similar problems with the Mac version being the worst. There is no doubt in my mind that the game is not ready to run on the modern systems, has not been tested and GOG should not be selling it. It is a broken program, which you;d have run long time ago on some legacy Windows, but it definitely does not run on the modern computers, no matter what OS they are running. Shame on GOG for cheating their customers.

A Hidden Gem

I got this game specifically to play on an older laptop. I don't know why I didn't think about putting Morrowind or Oblivion on it, but now that I've started playing it, I'm loving it. I did load a few mods (use the Two Worlds CP) and setup a couple AutoHotKey scripts (you'll have to assign them to your mouse buttons as the game blocks keyboard scripts), but overall, I'd buy it again. The only gripe I have has nothing to do with the game's play itself, but the fact that the SDK for mods was released exclusively to one site, who has since blocked all downloads and registration. Get it though, it's worth it!

Well worth your time and money.

I am guessing that the people who give this game 1 or 2 stars are either outright trolls or they just had their girl friend or boy friend give them their walking papers and now they just hate everything. I would give this game 4 stars at any price and 5 stars for the dirt cheap sale price. If you have any interest in RPGs, in the immortal words of Mr. T, "I pity the fool that doesn't buy this game"
