Tunnel of Doom takes place in 1903 at Goldcrest, a small mining town. Due to an unknown incident, the mayor has shut down the mine until further notice. With her husband trapped inside, Angel enters the mine to investigate and search for survivors. Little does she know, hordes of ghoulish creatures are lurking in the darkness…

An action rogue-lite hybrid, Tunnel of Doom mixes tower-defense with melee and ranged combat gameplay. Gather resources and use what you find to battle waves of monsters as you try to rescue survivors and escape the mine.

I wanted to like it buy it is weak game

I really expected more from this title. And now that i finished it i don't want to go back + 1 nice music 2 interesting premise 3 enough variation in weapons/turrets/items if a bit too much in weapon department 4 3rd stage introduces ice which is nice mechanic 5 Wall spiders can be helpful in preserving many resources 6 Clean room of traps is very nice feature 7 You can collapse bridge under enemy - 1 not enough events. at times i feel like it battle battle battle 2 cannot scout ahead if you enter room and it is battle you are locked in there. it half-defeats idea of respawn points. because you can do stage differently but can't retreat and try different room 3 Enemies are tough and in great number. if one hits you others will go after turrets/barricade/random objects which destroys some idea on how to tackle a stage and Rippers fire is hard to dodge 4 Resource game leaves you often at huge loss so its better to fight through stages then build elaborate traps 5 game happens fast so often its not good to buy extinguish bombs for when ripper decide to fireball your tower

Great Rogue-Like

I wasn't sure what to expect from this game, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised. The whole purpose of the game is to enter into a mine and make it from one room to the next. Each room gets progressively harder, but you can make it further and further if you choose your items wisely. The only problem I found are the controls. I don't know why, but the controls feel very clunky, especially when you want your character to face in a particular direction. This flaw really takes away from the combat, which is absolutely critical to the gameplay. For that reason alone I took away one star. Other than that it's a great game!

I recommend

This is a nice game which combines the genres of rouge-like and tower defense. "Nice" is a very suitable word—it really looks and feels nice and pleasurable, almost cute. I suggest to give it a try.

RL Zelda TD. Tactical and 'twitchy' play

ToD is a Turret Defense / Action Overhead Dungeoncrawler. Each dungeon is comprised of a series of interconnected rooms, with navigation options available between the start of the dungeon and the potential exit points. Each room plays out over the course of maybe two to four minutes, if it happens to be a room with a combat encounter (and it seems like most are). This is a fun conceit - you bring your acquired materiel into a room and have to design your Turret/Trap layout based on the lay of the land, so there is no Right And Proper design structure. Sometimes the room is so contravened to good item placement with your available resources that you'll end up just playing it as a straight (hard) twitch/(soft)bullet-hell combat. Because you are provided with the wave structure of the incoming enemies, as well as where they can enter, you can make rational decisions about what to place where. Because enemies can destroy your resource pool by breaking your traps/turrets, it's not always prudent to go for maximum DPS if it would expose your equipment to damage. Because enemies don't arrive until you hit the "Go Ahead" button, you have plenty of time to consider your options. You are constantly being asked to commit to a battle plan, then execute it in real time. Combat isn't sloppy, but is frantic and chaotic at times. I haven't beaten I Want To Be The Guy, but have won BoFH : Servers Under Seige at the hardest difficulty, so I think I'm "pretty fair to good" at twitch reflex action games, and ToD becomes legitimately challenging halfway through the first dungeon. It respects your skills as a player. "Currencies", money and the various scrap, seem well balanced if on the hard/tight side. Having enough to get through a room depends on how well you balanced in earlier rooms. but you'll usually have enough to get by... but nowhere near what you'd want to have. A fun game, well balanced, harder than the cute aestetics suggest.

Unbalanced mess

I fully agree with Syader's review. It would be a great game, if it had a casual or easy mode. I believe that the normal mode is actually impossible to beat - at least for me. After 5-10 rooms, you get overwhelmed by 10+ enemies, while having little resources to combat them.
