Unexpected ending, but still great
This is the final part of the Forsaken Souls trilogy. The theme and mechanics are identical to the first two games, so I won't spend time talking about them. Again, the puzzles don't disappoint: their variety and breadth of challenge continued to impress. As far as the story is concerned, it takes a sharp turn midway through the game and enters a realm I truly wasn't expecting. It wasn't quite the finale I was hoping for, but that's personal taste, so I can't fault the developers. While the game is certainly fantastic, I couldn't quite give it five stars. The reason for this is the retreading you do in the final act of the game. Instead of concluding with a new area, you return to a previously explored one. There were some minor environmental tweaks and a few new puzzles, but it wasn't enough to make the final setting, which should have been the apex of your journey, stand out. Furthermore, the protagonist has already solved the overarching mystery at this point, so there are no more surprises waiting for you at completion. Nevertheless, I still highly recommend the series to puzzle fans and anyone who enjoys a good horror/mystery story.
