This game was clearly made with passion. You can see the proof of this almost everywhere. The 2D environments are colorful and enchanting, gameplay feels smooth and polished, not to mention the absolutely huge and very diversified world in which you can spend many hours just exploring. Treasure Adventure Game casts you in the role of a young boy who lands on an island that is a fragment of what was once a continent, destroyed in the war between a demon and a wizard. You accept quests, travel across the oceans, and generally have a bang-up time of being a little boy in a big world, out there looking for treasure and adventure. Your equipment consists of a hat, a parrot, and a boat that appears whenever you touch water. Combine those with the basic platforming abilities like jumping and crawling that you’re familiar with from every platforming game ever, and you’ve got the basics of a phenomenal romp across a huge world filled with treasure, maps, secrets, danger, and triumph.
The music changes with the environments and day-night cycles, enhancing the feel the game is evoking and making you feel immersed in the world as you travel through it. The game has a retro feel, yes, but you really have to see it for yourself to understand what Treasure Adventure Game brings to the table. Since it’s free, of course, there is simply no reason not to!
Treasure Adventure Game was created by Stephen Orlando. He spent over 2 years of his life developing it. When you see the scope and detail in this game, it’s hard to believe that it was created by just one guy. But it was! So if you like it, head over to his website and break that donate button!
Huge, open, and highly interactive world to explore and a very interesting story to experience.
Very diversified environments with changing weather and NPCs that are not static but living their lives.
Beautiful music, composed by Robert Ellis, that changes with the background and creates a very unique and enchanting mood.

I became adicted to this game. The story is good, the world design, puzzles, the difficulty and dialogues is just right. But most of all the themes of the game are really really good.
I recommend it a lot, especially since it is free.
Another 8-bit 2d side scrolling adventure game why why why..... at least these were my first thoughts and to tell the truth they didn't change after few minutes of the game. But there is more then meats the eye. Huge amount of content and while you progress you collect more and more of your adventures kit and thanks to those items you can explore places that were in this or other way forbidden blocked or obscured to you. A
platformer and I'll have to say that there were moments of doubt and nearly throwing my keyboard out the window after another death while the save point being waaayyyy back. But all in all its good that it is in many cases so hardcore because nowadays I have a feeling that those kinds of games are being dumbed down a little bit. I loved the boss fight and yea there will be a lot of them, but also have to say this, without any details because not to spoil anything but the ending is well..... surprising but I just waited for something epic and frankly it is not there.
All in all a good old school peace of adventure for few long, long hours.
two stars for what story i saw and charming music.
just spent an hour mashing different buttons in order to get anything to move let alone work. Then I find out its a platformer, which I abhor (the idea of spending half an hr just trying to go upstairs in order to explore is not fun for me), with a clunky save system so you basically end up running back and forth between saves or risk losing a half hour progress due to falling or some such nonsense.
I liked the graphics and enjoyed what story I could see before losing patience with the game and deleting it. Dont understand the philosophy that unless an entertainment medium is painful its not worth playing. this is supposed to be fun, not frustrating, repetitive or aggravating entertainment.
skip this freeware game unless you enjoy platforming, no menu, no key commands (for ex. under options, it helpfully states to use the attack key to attack, the jump key to jump and so on.. never once saying what keys those are) or how to even use objects in inventory. trial and error found movement was left/right arrow, but jump was the x key, use was the a, up arrow for dialogue/reading? i dont know. you get my drift? clunky controls to say the least. esc doesnt even take you out of the game. Sometimes nostalgia can use a quick kick in the pants in just plain user interface capability and for those that nay say and call me an adhd kid of the day, I say to them to remove their hair shirts and get on with life.
So first off the controls are nonsense, and as far as I can tell you can't access the menu without quitting the game. Tried every button on the keyboard but nothing exited the menu, I have to quit to the main menu every time I check the in game menu. But back to controls. Any game should in some way tell you what buttons do what and what you are actually capable of doing. I don't mind keeping a few things secret like really advanced techniques, but this game tells you nothing, which is one of the worst sins a game can commit. Well I got it free so I guess you get what you pay for, but I wouldn't buy the final version based on this sample. I realize "controls" are an option, but that doesn't tell you what key is which, it just gives you a few actions. I realize explaining controls is an easy thing to forget when making a game for the first time, but if this is being exhibited in any professional capacity then that is not something you can ignore. Maybe the rest of the game is fantastic. I don't know, and I won't force myself to play more of the game of "guess how this new mechanic works. F-.
...or the strange title, which makes it sound like it's all about collecting treasures. This is one of the most fun platformers I've played in my life. There are about a dozen moments (usually have to do with a new boss fight) where you go: "I can't believe a game would do this!!! This is SO COOL!!!" It can be challenging at times, there are a few spots where it's not too clear where to go (there's a lot of free roaming, which means you'll have to backtrack too), but it can be solved without hints.
(The developer has made an HD version now (Treasure Adventure World). I haven't tried it yet, but I wish he'd done a prequel instead, where you could be the legendary hero getting all the treasures.)
