I just... I just don't know.

I'll start by saying that like most I love the art style and narrative. Oh and the soundtrack is pretty cool too. The gameplay is where, for me, this game falls apart. This game gives you so much choice in how to play it, so many combinations of abilities which sounds great until it throws a few enemies at you that pretty much require specific ones. The dog cunts for example, if you don't have the dash move you're basically done for, they chase you around all over the shop and you can't outrun them. The photobastards are annoying too, they just slap a big picture of you in front of the screen so you can't see anything for a bit and now something has stopped me from being able to see during the "Turn" thing. There's just nothing but progressive hindrances in the gameplay and it's not fun. I have never known a game to try so hard to prevent me from having fun while playing it. So in short, I want to like this game but it's just annoying after a while. There are so many things I like about it which makes it thrice as annoying than a regular bad game. If you like strategy games disguised as a hack'n'slash then this is for you.

Incredible experience.

It is beautiful. Soundtrack is fantastic. Humming idea alone makes wanna scream "YES! That's how a game experience should be made". This is not just a game. It is a piece of art. Not to mention, games that can make me cry, earn a special place to my heart.

Simply beautiful

Transistor is one of these games in which you start knowing almost nothing, you are just in a beautiful world knowing nothing about your surroundings, but as you advance through Cloudbank streets, the narrator is always uncovering things about the world and the situation you are in, with some remarks being very subtle while others are not. The combat system is also very interesting, and despite looking somewhat complex or maybe overwhelming at the beginning, once you get it, you really create strategies and combos that can transform a typical battle into a dance of sorts

Small masterpiece

This little game is masterpiece. Devs had the idea, and executed it to the end. However game is short, but or me, it just end when gameplay is about to get boring, and story comes to conclusion. Cant blame game to end, when it ends on right time. The gameplay is very fun. Easy to learn. Allows to find your style, either real time action or turn based, or mix of both. Player can setup own favorite attacks, and apply combos with it. Can just play own way. Encounters are hard enought, especially in the end. Beside story mission there are challenges to break routine. One can complain that there is not enought enemies variety, but then game ends before things get boring. Game has story. Which is presented with notes found here and there, and talks with our weapon. Story is open to interpretacion, there is some love, or story of young game dev finding his way in big corporations. Game is beautifull. Preatty background and arena design, stylish cutscenes. Even better soundtrack.

Atmospheric sci-fi rpg

I first need to say this, if you liked Bastion you would love Transistor. I played Bastion a couple of years ago and I thought it was brilliant. The only downsides were in my opinion the gameplay itself and the story. The combat felt out of date, and I forced myself through it because of the great atmosphere. The same with the story, it was not really believable that a little kid would save the world. But then again, the atmosphere was amazing and the thing that made Bastion one of my top gaming experiences. Fast forward a couple of years to Transistor, take Bastion but take away all the bad stuff from it and you have Transistor. Supergiant games have thought up an interesting story and put in a very cool combat system, which is easy to learn but takes time to master. A lot of strategy is involved in the combat and to combine all of the different functions (moves) and see what happens was one of the games strong points. The atmosphere and music are top notch and the story is interesting. You feel for the characters, Red the heroine and also the talking sword. Who was he ? Can we save him ? Can we get our voice back ? What is happening in the city ? A lot of questions pop ups the first ten minutes and I feel that they were all explained around 6 hours later. The story is brought to the gamer mainly by the swords voice, with some occasional reading on terminals. If you want to dwell deeper into the lore you can read about the different functions and who they were when they were alive. But to do so, you need to equip them in battle. A smart thing from the developers, leading to more experimentation of the different functions. Great graphics, great story, great music, great atmosphere, great combat. Well, this is one of the best games I have played.
