TA Kingdoms was a stinker - avoid
I got this game on CD-ROM from a store that was giving it away free to customers buying video games. I guess it wouldn't move off the shelf any other way. Anyway, I played it extensively enough to give it a fair shake, as I often like games that others don't. I didn't like it. It sucked. The graphics were rather nice actually, but the gameplay made me wonder if it had been playtested at all. The difficulty level beyond the first few missions is staggering. The defender seems to be at a 10:1 advantage every time. That would be the biggest flaw. Eventually I gave it to my nephew as a "gift"... he's probably passed it on by now. Don't buy this title.

Love the Game - Crashes too often
Grew up playing this game. Absolutley love it. Whenever I go to play it crashes. Please fix.

Falls Short for TA
I was excited to play Total Annihilation: Kingdoms because I loved the original Total Annihilation. Unfortunately, Kingdoms is a let down in that regard. Economy in kingdoms favors one style: resource rushing. Strategy favors one style: massing hordes and concentrating fire (there is no attack command, by the way - the best you can do is send your guys on patrol). Then there is the campaign and terrible story (keep in mind that the multiplayer scene is long since dead so the single player is all you have now) which at Chapter 38 it had me doing the very exciting mission of "Rescue 3 deer." I shit ye not. And, trust me, most of the missions are a bunch of filler just like that. Some missions are slowed down even more by arbitrary objectives like "Bring 20 cannons (slowest unit in the game) to the opposite end of the map." Even at +10 speed, the game seems slow and too easy. The only real shining parts are: it is still TA and Zhon (the beast faction) was innovative. Zhon operates solely on mobile "factories" which makes playing them interesting until you learn to just spam drakes and giants. Buy the original Total Annihilation. Kingdoms is just disappointing in comparison to the game that came before it.
