Extremely dated by today's standards. Mission design, controls and lighting limit the fun. Wait for the remake.

When it comes to 3rd-party games, he PS2/ early PS3 era seems to be aging like milk. Tomb Raider: Legend is no different in this regard. It lacks the charm of playing the clunky PS1 titles, yet falls short of the "satisfying" feeling of an Uncharted 3 or Tomb Raider (2013). I tried to replay it for nostalgia's sake, and also as part of my GOG backlog, but every session left me absolutely vexed. People are mentioning an upcoming "remaster" of this trilogy to be announced (good luck with the layoffs), but as it is, Legend is another one of those PS2 duds, that's gonna be lost to time.

Take out the driving sections and this game is nearly perfect. Heck, even the first driving section is passable at best. The second one though. Jesus what were the developers on when they decided this was something to ship out? Enemies that one-shot you. A worthless pistol that never hits who you're aiming at unless you're right up on them; which then lets them fill you up with their shotguns or rifles with their pinpoint precision when they're in your range. Health packs so inconsistent and random they may as well be non-existent, but when you're filled up on health for 5 seconds the game rains them down on you. Everything else about the game is enjoyable, but I've never wanted to throttle my younger self for enjoying a game so that I could remember it being that 10/10 game instead of buying it a decade later and realizing there are sections of the game that were grounds for terminating the developer who designed them.
