I absolutely loved this game when I was younger. What the makers have done here is make my rose tinted spectacles (pun intended) view of the old games a reality. The modern controls make the game so much more playable and the upgraded graphics are the perfect blend of respecting the original whilst making use of modern capabilities. I love being able to toggle between new and old graphics at a touch of a button. Within minutes of booting this for the first time it was like I'd never stopped playing. Would absolutely recommend to any fan of Laras.
Yeah, bugs. And, really, I think it's the same bugs I got almost 30 years ago, they're weird to re-experience. Back then, you just re-started the level, I mean, you paid 100 bucks for the PSX games, of course you did. You didn't have that kind of money, but you definitely had the time. You died a 1000 times, you bit pieces out of the carpet in frustration but still you soldiered through. If it took 300 hours, it took 300 hours.
Today, you have like a lazy Sunday evening and some free half hours during the week. You load your last save, only to find out that it doesn't fix the bug. Saving often, which I do, seems to be a surefire way to trigger these old as balls game breaking bugs.
In Tomb Raider 1, the bug occurred in the Cistern level - some tunnel that Lara gets stuck in every time. In Tomb Raider 2, it happened in Venice. Some key that I had already collected vanished without a trace upon loading the game, making progress in the level impossible. I'm done after abandoning two out of the three games, thank you very much.
This is a nice Remaster. I mean, there are two atrocious control modes now, but that kind of is the old school charm. I liked what they did with the graphics. Some of the criticism leveled at these remasters I found to be unfair and hardly compliant with review rules.
Too bad the Remaster does a pretty good job ruining the TR legacy "old school style".
I'm still on the second game, getting closer to the end with time, but they've done an immaculate job with these, and I've already gone ahead and pre-ordered the upcoming three remasters for 4, 5 & 6!
I bought this game and loved it. The light touch on the graphics makes it look better but doesn't ruin the memories I have with the series. The modern controls are a great addition. I just change to the old ones if I really need to make a specific jump, sometimes not even then.
The game is a bit heavier on the pc than I imagined it would be, but still runs great.
The only negative point about this collection it's the ridiculous message that always appears"we're sorry this game has outdated values, uwu. Please don't be mad at us"

Generally good remasters of the first three Tomb Raider games, with improved visuals and framerate, the ability to switch to the original graphics at anytime with F1, and optional modern controls.
I say "mostly good" because there's still a fair amount of little nags that all add up. The biggest one being, there not being an option to disable fixed camera events (minus switch related ones showing you a door opening, etc). Something that is more necessary when using the modern controls. More often than not, a fixed camera event will get you killed when using modern controls.
As for the games themselves
Tomb Raider 1: The classic
Tomb Raider 2: I used to think 3 was my favorite, but it might actually be 2. 2 has the right amount of uncanny valley and other weird stuff that tickles my brain just right.
Tomb Raider 3: The one with the most variety. With a non-linear level order after clearing the first few levels (Hint: Do Nevada first). Sometimes the new gimmicks get in the way, and sometimes level objectives or paths are just way too obscure. But in the end, the classic TR games tend to do that sometimes.
Modern TR games might have better gameplay, but the classics have better exploration, atmosphere, and soul.
