Not for me

I don't understand all the love for this. I don't know why you play games but I play them to have fun. I certainly do not play them to make myself so frustrated and angry that I can hardly see straight, which was my experience 95% of the time playing this garbage. Dying 1,067 times in the first hour is not fun. Desperately spamming the A and D keys on a keyboard when prompted is not fun. Running around puzzle solving and running around killing dudes IS fun, but this game only lets me do that 5% of the time. Mostly I'm stuck in yet another stupid QTE until I can die enough times to memorize the pattern that lets me live, then move forward 10 seconds and start the next QTE die and reload loop. It breaks all immersion and atmosphere and interest when you have to get machine gunned off the same exploding rooftop or impaled by a tree branch 35 times before you can continue playing. And what's up with that torture porn death animation? 67% complete and not going to bother finishing this.

Tomb Raider plus "réaliste" ?

Ce reboot nous donne une nouvelle histoire pour Lara, bien que clichée au possible : le mentor (Roth), le petit traître à lunettes (Whitman), et le personnage sympa qu'on sait qu'il lui arrivera rien (Jonah). Des scènes assez impressionnantes par moment mais avec des QTE qui font chier SAUF qu'échouer nous conduit à des scènes de morts assez divertissantes (On appréciera d'avoir collé le premier QTE SANS EXPLICATION sur la touche à appuyer, résultat : mort, mort et MORT !) Le jeu se veut plus "réaliste". D'accord, donc Lara est grièvement blessée au tout début, elle se traîne difficilement, se repose quelques heures et... Hop ! A plus mal ! L'histoire tente de nous montrer une personne vulnérable mais quand vous avez ça en tête, ça devient risible (et ça arrive à plusieurs reprises). Malgré ces défauts, l'histoire est assez intéressante quand elle aborde la "transformation" de Lara en aventurière survivante, il y a beaucoup de symbolismes et de scène : comme par exemple, l'intro avec Lara qui se regarde dans un miroir en étant "innocente" puis bien plus tard se revoit dans ce même miroir et constate ces changements physiques qu'elle a subit au fil de l'aventure : blessures, saletés et vêtements déchirés. Quant à la carte ? Elle est sympathique. J'ai apprécié cette île et ses mystères. Bien que le jeu soit très beau, on manque vraiment de décors démesurés comme Tomb Raider Underworld. Cela dit, les environnements traversés sont de toute beauté ! Et les ennemis ? L'IA peut être parfois pas trop mal mais des fois vraiment pas maligne comme foncer sur nous en total suicidaire : on a un fusil à pompe et toi des couteaux... Tu vas faire quoi ? La musique est sympathique et la VF est correcte : celle qui fait Lara est quelques fois pas terrible, on est loin de la doubleuse originale. Jeu pas mal, mais en deçà de la série ! C'est beaucoup plus concentré sur l'action que les énigmes et exploration.

Tap F for torture porn

The game is a sadistic QTE masquerading as an adventure game. There's no adventure here. Just murder and body horror. The Tomb Raider tie-in is the most cynical of branding. I can almost hear the heavy breathing of the animators that sculpted Lara having a tree branch stab her through the throat. I'm not one to get overly political on dumb action games, but this game horrifically maiming its female character through an obscene assortment of kaleidescopic gore says something. It says SOMEthing. If they didn't go full throttle on the ultraviolence, the non-qte environment puzzling and stealth gameplay is half decent. It's a shame that was wasted on a game that I had to quit because I physically couldn't stomach it anymore.

This is not Tomb Raider

This is just another pointless third person perspective shooter that forces you to play the way developers want you to play. It is nothing like original Tomb Raider games. Examples: - you have granades but you need to use old bell to open wooden gate - fight with Vladimir - the game does not allow you to shoot him in the head, you can only shoot him in the balls and that does nothing to him, you still have to wrestle him, just imagine battered, starving, weak girl wrestles buffed russian sailor and wins - really in what alternative univers?! - solari tank - a guy wearing steel plates on his hands can take entire magazine from assault rifle in the head or multiple grandes and it does nothing to him but you kill him with ice axe - fighting Mathias - lara can use assault rifle, combat shotgun or handgun to kill main villain but she chose to use and bow and arrow in 100 km/h winds and fails miserably I wont even mention multiple opportunities you have to kill main villain but the game just cuts to cinematics and Lara does something totally retarded resulting in blowing her chance to kill Mathias.

great game. even better reboot

great reboot of the tomb raider series. mechanics, gameplay and story telling are modernized. the gameplay is fun and engaging as well as the puzzles. Those are not too challenging, so they are rather a alternation to the "shooting" phases of the game and vise versa. Story telling is also done well. Over all every aspect of the game adds to it and improves it. there are pretty much no unneccessary elements in the game. There is also a lot of stuff to collect for those achievments hunters, but it is not an excessive amount like in some open world games nowadays. Therefore it is quite fun to do it on the side. If u dont have it already and may like a mix of puzzles and shooters this is a game for u!
